Quite a boring one:
In April last year I bought a phone, recommended by a friend, from a well known online tech company (am I allowed to name?). Within a week I was having really frequent ghost touch issues. I didn't contact the company immediately as I thought a relative might be able to fix it.
After 3 weeks I contacted them and explained what was happening, I also researched the phone and discovered this was a common issue.
Company said that as I hadn't contacted them within 2 weeks they didn't have to replace the phone but if I posted it back at my own expense they would try to fix it.
I had taken a video of the phone glitching within the 2 week period with the date clearly visible so sent that to them. Again said it didn't matter as I hadn't contacted them sooner and to post it.
So I posted it, heard nothing for many weeks so contacted them and they replied saying they hadn't been able to fix it but would refund me less than half the price.
Obviously wasn't happy with this but said I would accept if they returned the phone as well as the money they'd offered. No they couldn't do this. It went back and forth quite a few more times, offered to up the refund a little.
Then my dog died very suddenly and everything was dropped. As I hadn't replied within 2 weeks they closed the case. I contacted them again explaining the issue hadn't been resolved but they didn't reply.
I was still reeling from the loss of my dog and didn't really care but I've become increasingly annoyed that I've let them have a decent amount of my money that I had to work really hard for.
Is there anything I can do at this stage, is there any point in contacting them again? I suppose I don't have a leg to stand on at this point. The case was closed last Nov.
Thanks for reading, any input much appreciated.

Someone more experienced may be along shortly but in my opinion, if they closed the case last November and you haven't done anything about it since then, I seriously doubt you will get anywhere.

Was this a new phone?

I doubt they will do anything after nearly a year. You should have dealt with it straight away. You might get through to a sympathetic person who'll offer you a token compensation or discount off of a new phone.

Not many businesses would help after all this time.

Yes it was a brand new phone, thank you for the replies. Might as well give it a go or I'll never know!

Don't let it go. Write back asking for a full refund telling them you will be taking them to court for breach of contract as the phone was not working correctly from the date when you purchased it.
This 2 week deadline they imposed is irrelevant as there's no 2 week rule in law and the court would not look favourably on them applying such an arbitrary rule and offering you a partial refund.
