Alcoholic Yoghurts

I told my DC that the strawberry yoghurts in the fridge were alcoholic to give me an excuse not to share them. What lies have you come up with to defend your food?

In my defence, these yoghurts are low fat, high sugar things and I'd rather the kids have plain yogurt with fruit but they love anything in a jazzy packet because I deny them.

I don't drink Diet Coke any more but when I did, I used to say they were vegetable drinks (it does say vegetable extract or something on the cans).

That ensured the DC gave them a wide berth.

Ooh good idea. Sadly one kid can read now and knows coke is nice. I regret putting him in school.

I just say it's spicy. No matter what it is, that puts them off!

My DS (now 18) had this thing about nuts and coconut when he was little . He wouldn't even think about eating things like Snickers, Nutella, Bounty bars .

I used to tell him everything from After Eights to Jaffa Cakes had nuts in them Grin

He's wise to it now --and cannot believe I lied to my Little Boy Wink

Yes a lot of things in this house have alcohol in then so DD (7) can't have it.

The latest was a can of Dr Pepper which was actually made from both black and red peppers! She likes pepper now! Hmm

TallulahBetty · 23/10/2018 21:41

YY to everything being spicy Grin

Sorry to bring it down to earth, but why lie?
Why not just say it's yours and dc can't have it?
I might be being a grump about this but really don't understand why a lie is necessary....
I did have a friend who used to tell her kids that the ice cream van played music when it had run out - but I could understand that as she didn't have two pennies to run together, so it was fair enough.

'rub'

Girlsnightin · 23/10/2018 22:45

It tastes better if you have to lie to get it.....

Am I the only one that was going to go and scour all the dairy sections in Tesco's and ASDA to find the alcoholic yoghurt Op had posted in the title?
