Bought a car few weeks ago , brother (good with cars) came along to have a look and see if was "ok" .

Seemed fine but now the clutch has gone , it will cost £700 to repair , that's nearly 50% of the cars value :-(

Its money I don't really have, but I'll have to find, will impact holidays etc

First world problem I know but I just feel like I've been "done" , I know its "sold as seen" etc etc but I'd never sell something that I knew to be faulty.

I know there's no solution ,I honestly could burst into tears.

So .......... Cheer me up with your stories , we can wish karma as a gang .

Mostly just need a kind voice , I feel so stupid :-(

I’m afraid I know nothing about cars, but I’m a kind voiceFlowers
We all get done with second hand cars( intentionally or not). If your bro couldn’t tell, it’s not likely you could. X

I bought a flat just before the bottom fell out of the market. Within a few weeks the value dropped by 25%. I'd got a 100% mortgage on interest only.

And the management company collapsed a few weeks later. The build wasn't finished and a lot of the services we had 'bought' into were not there. And we're never provided. We only had 1 key fob to get in. DP, now DH, has to wait outside until I got home from work. We didn't have a car as we put all our money it to property.

We sat it out and after 4 years the price increased, new management company on board and they flash sold the entire block. We had been one of six in the block out of 92 flats, the rest had been vacant. We timed it right to get out, we made £20k on the sale price which paid our deposit for a proper family home. It all came good in the end.

Breath deep and don't focus on the negatives. Thanks

Thanks, just feeling a bit sorry for myself, it will pass, my usual "no one died, its just money" etc will kick in.
Just feel a bit f**k about it ATM.

There are far worse problems to have obviously.

I saved really hard for a whole year and managed to scrape together £2000 for a new car. I'd traded in my old banger for a Renault megane scenic, after driving it for 1 month the whole dashboard went blank which resulted in the car dying never to start again.
The "dealer" who I bought it from refused to uphold the warrenty I was given so I was then left with a dead car with at least £2500 worth of work and no money to fix it.
I ended up paying for a car in instalments from a family member, whilst my one sat in the garage and literally rotted from the inside out.

You're not the only one it's happend to so don't feel stupid.

If I'd bought from a dealer I'd be far crosser !!
What's the point of a warranty if its just ignored.
