Running when very sleep deprived

I have recently taken up running and started out with a running group which I have enjoyed but also found it hard to remain consistent to the group as some of the evenings I can’t get out because my dh is back later/my work etc. I have remained consistent though and have gone on my own at the weekends when I couldn’t make it to the group.
The thing is my 3rd child is a terrible sleeper and very unpredictable. He seems to really suffer from teething pain and we are talking 3 weeks of frequent night wakes for every tooth. He is my 2nd really bad sleeper and truthfully my sleep in the last 4 years has been fucking awful. My dh and I take it in turns etc but I find that I still wake (we live in a small cottage and I can hear everything).
I have always been into exercise but running is new for me and I find it great for my mental health. Last night however was so bad and honestly my 15 month old woke around 5/6 times. There really is nothing we can do, we have tried sleep training/ pain relief , co-sleeping etc. It’s the same pattern for every tooth. I feel like death warmed up, I have been up since 6am and I am dragging myself around. I have also 2 pickups and of course my very busy 15 month old with me all day.
Sorry for the essay but my body is telling me go to bed early tonight but I have a big thing about giving up (I over analyze everything)and wonder about just going for a run tonight at 7pm...
Is exercise beneficial if your body is exhausted. I am not doing it for weight loss, it’s just for my overall health.
Can anyone here tell me if they run on empty basically? Would really appreciate opinions!

Yes, I run on empty although not if unwell.

Could you do a shorter run? Still getting out but not putting so much stress on yourself (and you'll hopefully dread it less)?

I can’t run in the morning for this reason, has to be in the afternoon or I literally can’t keep my legs going.

I’m not sure about whether a lack of sleep will affect your ability to run or not but could you just go with the aim of a ten minute run and if you feel ok after that then you can keep going? Or maybe go for a longer fast walk?

Have a banana and a energy tablet before you go, along with a good drink of water about an hour before and I reckon you’ll be able to do something.

DH always says that the times you really, really don’t want to exercise are the times that you really should. Mind over matter and all that (he’s been training for various sports since he was 13 so I do vaguely listen to him).

I’d do a gentle 5k, just enough to losen up your legs and work up a sweat. Won’t prevent an early night!

Running sleep deprived is apparently okay physiologically, but has a higher risk of injury due to inattention. Always choose good flat paths, no fellrunning with your eyes closed!

I'd recommend ditching it tonight, unless you feel a lot better at 7. In which case make it a short one. If you ditch it, there's always tomorrow - but make tomorrow's a short one so you can get back on schedule without overdoing it.

Watch yourself to identify exercise addiction too, the endorphin hits of running are quite more-ish. It's easy to manage if you're aware, but makes you edgy and irritable if you're not (like being short of cigarettes or caffeine can).

Thanks so much for your messages! Actually 10 minutes is a really good idea like I will head out on my own, that way I can bail outBlush
I usually am good a pushing myself but I do remember going on one of these 7km runs on zero sleep and feeling pretty shit even after like I was going to pass out.
I guess I was really wondering if it could be bad for the body on no sleep or is it always good regardless? I’ll go anyway tonight!
