Wasnt sure where to post this.

Im looking for a rocking chair to help nursing our new baby, due at xmas.

Does anyone have any opinions of the poang chair? Either the original style or the proper rocking chair.

Thanks

We have the original - absolutely love it. Didn't have it when breast feeding but imagine it would be better than the rocker

We have the original and it’s very comfy... DH uses it as his gaming chair at the mo.

We've had two poang chairs, I love them. Comfortable for your back, nice gentle rock, and so reasonably priced.

I've got the original. I think it'd be fine for a little baby, but by the time my DD was around 6 months old the arms of the chair got in the way if i wanted to feed her in a cradle type hold. Haven't fed newborn DS in it... prefer to feed lazily in bed!

We have one of each and I love them. The rocking chair is my favourite and we have the matching footstool for added comfort.

I sat in a poang original style chair to nurse - it was generally comfortable for me although I remember sometimes wishing there was some padding on the armrests (also sometimes found them a bit too low down - remember using pillows to make it more comfortable) and a bit more support around my head (a bit more of a wing to it - if that’s the right word). If I was going to be doing it again I think I’d look for a more supportive chair.

Agree with a PP - I found it fine and comfortable with a young baby. Slightly older and heavier that’s when the niggles started to creep in.

We have the poang rocker. I breastfed comfortably on it and it still looks good unlike those chairs specially for nursing which we decided were over engineered, over priced and ugly...

We had one as a nursing chair too along with the footstool bit and loved it. I used a bf pillow to make the arms comfier. It’s so much cheaper and takes up a lot less room than a nursing chair. We sold it on afterwards but I have very fond memories of sitting up feeding in it during the night watching box sets!

Wow, thanks all. I didnt need much convincing but it is good to see positive reviews.

Check that you can get out of it without using your arms. The seat slopes backwards in such a way that you need quite strong thighs and core to stand up from it with a baby in your arms. I am fairly strong but got stranded in a poang not long after my CS because I couldn’t use my abdominal muscles and couldn’t push myself up whilst holding the baby...

OutComeTheWolves · 23/10/2018 00:46

I have the white one but I can't get the cushions out of the covers to wash them so it looks filthy. I'm not sure if I'm missing a trick because everyone I mention this to just tells me to pull them out. So it's likely that mine is faulty rather than a flaw with all poangs.

It is comfortable though.

I bought another cover to go over the top of my unclean cover for exactly that reason.

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 23/10/2018 00:50

We have the original one in Dd’s Room- we love it.

I didn’t find it hard to get out of holding the baby, and it was fantastic in early labour for the bouncing motion! Dd is a year old and I still use it every night for our pre-bedtime chill out cuddle.

I think ours was only £40 all in, which is great value compared to those hideous nursing chairs which are usually £200 +.
