Just pulled 5 out of my hair in the bath. Bloody children.

Need your best most effective and quickest suggestions please!! There’s a big Boots near me so will head there ASAP..

Thank you!

I have always used lyclear. It's usually behind the counter rather than on the shelf. (Make sure you treat everyone who needs it but I'm sure you worked that out). I like the comb that comes with the lyclear and use that every time I wash my hair to comb through the conditioner and check for live at the same time.
We haven't had head lice for years but regularly seem to get worms!!!!!! Disgusting children!!!!!

Loubilou09 · 23/10/2018 13:07

I am not in my tenth year of dealing with them....some poor children are far more susceptible than others!! The only thing that works is the 8 hour hedrin - nothing else works on my children.

No comb is as good as the nittygritty - well worth the investment

The metal teeth of the comb, have a spiral down their length which grabs the eggs and pulls them of the hair, this kills the nit before it breeds..

Meet0nTheIedge · 23/10/2018 16:47

It also snags the hair horribly though, the hairs get into the spirals. Hate, hate, hate it.

Get the Hedrin Once spray, cover your head and roots with it, comb from root to ends, in small sections and wipe the nitty gritty on kitchen towel after each piece is combed.Do this to your entire head, then do it again. Repeat this in a week, and use the nitty gritty with conditioner during this week. Good luck - lice sucks are.

GreenFieldsofFrance · 23/10/2018 17:25

Yep 8 hour Hedrin is the only thing that works on mine too. Am sure I spotted a dark speck on dd this morning so no doubt it will be coming out again tonight... I keep a job lot in the house!

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 23/10/2018 17:45

So does the Hedrin spray actually kill them that quickly?

Yes, it's not an insecticide, it coats them and they suffocate.

DrZoidbergsTentacles · 23/10/2018 19:32

Exactly what MeetOnTheledge said - it suffocates the live ones, and is MEANT to kill the eggs. However all it takes is one of those bastard eggs to hatch and the whole thing starts again, so even when you get to the point of thinking 'i can't comb anymore' keep combing. I actually dry comb with the nitty gritty over a white sink: pulls loads of hair out, but i can see if there are any eggs on the comb and on the hair it pulls out.

So what have you used today and how many more lice did you comb out? And have you managed to do the kids yet?
