DS is 5 weeks old . Up until last thursday he was a great sleeper. Then he just stopped going down in his crib.
Tonight it has taken us 4 hrs to get him to sleep. He was then aslerp for 40 mins in his cot before esling up.

.i have sent DH to the spare so we can co sleep.really didnt want to do that

I am broken.

Its cold season already, so He is probably feeling a bit bunged up nose wise

Try taking him into bathroom with you, close the doors and run the shower or bath hot so the room steams up. Its the easiest way to help ''steam' their airways clear at that age. You can sit with him on the closed toilet seat and feed at the same time if easier.

Also try and take him outside for a walk before bedtime. The cooler evening fresh air will also help him feel sleepy. sometime between 6-9pm for a good 20mins plus

Try to feed more during the later afternoon and evening to reduce hunger wakings. I would aim to feed every 2 hours during the day, then you can be reassured at night he probably isnt hungry so try and only feed every 3 hrs overnight, moving to 3 1/2, then 4 hrs overnight as time goes on.

Are you breastfeeding? If so a few drops of expressed milk up the nose has always been a miracle cure for mine when bunged up. I think just having any liquid up there (like the saline drops) really helps them clear it out but the antibodies in the milk kill off the bug living up there as an added bonus.

Thanks everyone.
He has slept on me all morning. Was due to meet friends for lunch but I just dont think disturbing him is a good idea. Sad

Quite right! You need a rest too. Try to have a relaxing afternoon with lots of tea and cake if he lets you get up to make it. I'm currently trapped under a 3 week old who refuses to be put down, so I'm there with you.

This really does pass OP - in a few months you'll look back and you won't be able to believe how fleeting this stage is. I know it's gruelling at the moment but it really isn't forever.

I managed to get him in his sling. And the friends are coming round to feed me. I cant sleep because i cant put him down so I may as well have company
