Anyone have open wardrobes, ie/ without doors??

Off to Ikea tomorrow (mad on a Sunday, I know) to order some Pax wardrobes. DH is keen to have the open ones, without doors but I'm worried everything will just get dusty?

Does anyone have open ones and would you recommend?

My DD has her clothes on clothes rails, to me they look untidy.

What she didn't realise is that Spiders and insects (from open windows) would nest happily in the sleeves.

Yes, they get dustier and if the sun shines on them, colours fade.

I have a pax without a door on what used to be the spare room and is now DD s. We put a curtain across the front. Had the same set up with a pair of hanging rails in an alcove in our room with a curtain. I feel that in small rooms wardrobes with doors are very big and sort of loom at you... taking the doors off makes them less imposing.

There were never massive problems with dust and it wasn't particularly messy and we could draw the curtain across if we wanted. Only did though when purple stayed in there! DD has the curtain now and never uses it.

Yes and it looks hideous. Don't do it is my advice.

@snowglobes - lots of pictures if you do a google images search and on Pinterest . I tried to take photos of ours but because they are mirrors they show the whole bedroom.

Here’s some that are similar. Ours are high gloss white doors and mirrored doors.

I'd defo go for the full mirrored doors. Iv got a triple pax in my dressing room and a double in my bedroom and they are fabulous.

We had wardrobes without doors for two years when we first moved in, not through choice but because DH lost interest in finishing his DIY project. It looks messy and just ‘unfinihsed’, plus the clothes did get dusty. Get doors.

We have the mirrored doors. They are Flipping lovely. In our old house they faced the bed so you would sit up and see yourself. Felt like you were always in a bad porn film. Not they just make the room really light.

I’ve had open wardrobes before. Soooo messy.

We have a "walk in wardrobe" open to the side of our bedroom. Previous owners had an open pax wardrobe. It looks appallingly messy and I am getting quotes to redo it with doors.
