Moisturiser for very dry skin

Is anyone able to recommend a facial moisturiser for very dry skin?

I've been struggling with dry skin for most of my adult life. It's particularly dry on my nose/t-zone.

Someone recommended a vitamin cream to me, but I can't remember if it was vitamin A, C, D or E?!

Thanks in advance.

I am a fan of Liz Earle skincare products.
You could visit a Liz Earle counter for advice; maybe an overhaul of your cleansing routine would help, too (good old Cleanse and Polish).
And consider whether you might need a doctor's prescription, eg steroid cream for eczema, if the skin problem seems intractable.

I have very dry skin- I find a combination of Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser (of Aldi's version- just as good 🤭) and Charlotte tilbury magic moisturiser work a treat together- the CT moisturiser is pricey- Lush have one that I've also found good x

Cerave, available from Boots, is a very good inexpensive skincare range. I’ve spent a lot of money on skincare and although it doesn’t feel luxurious to apply , it does the trick.

I have very dry skin on my face, around my nose i have eczema, the skin in that area tends to peel.I use Cetraben ointment around the nose and cetraben cream for the rest of my face.

I had dry flakey skin on my face for years. I tried so many things but what cleared it up in the end was using the E45 emollient face wash and the E45 moisturiser. It took about 2 weeks of using it for my skin to stop being flakey. Now I use both products everyday and my skin is perfect. Have a look at this NHS link about emollients: www.nhs.uk/conditions/emollients/

No face creams are hydrating enough for my very dry skin. I use Eucerin 10% lotion on my face (and the rest of my body) in the morning. It absorbs well after a few minutes and keeps my face moisturised easily all day.

Joanne721 · 18/10/2018 20:48

I can`t use E45 or Eucerin as they contain lanolin, which irritates my skin.

Can anyone recommend a brand of face wipe for dry, flaky skin?

INeedNewShoes · 18/10/2018 21:03

Goat - I used to use Tesco own brand sensitive wipes very happily on my dry skin. Since stopping using them I've replaced instead with a muslin cloth and Simple cleansing lotion which my skin tolerates just as well.

I only found out recently it's best to apply moisturiser to moist skin, damp from the shower, as opposed to dry skin.

I don’t know if this will help any of you but my adult DD has just got some nasty eczema on her hands (from onset of cold weather probably) & is trying this Aveeno baby cream

It’s lovely stuff, a tiny bit goes a long way & there are lots of reviews online about how gentle it is & good for baby eczema.

(No lanolin, @Joanne721 Smile)

I use hydralonic avid, Squalane oil in morning and rosehip in evening. All from the Ordinary. I find these have really helped my very dry skin

turquoise88 · 18/10/2018 21:17

Thanks everyone.

GiantKitten, I actually have some Aveeno so may give that a go in the first instance.

Nivea daily essentials. Rich Day Cream for dry skin is good, and cheap as chips.

Hi

I work outside all year, so go through phases with my facial skin.
I’ve tried v expensive creams but just recently decided to give astral a go.
I’m v impressed, it’s thick and creamy and smooths my tight facial skin no end.
It smells lovely and comes in big pots too.
Maybe give it a try.ive tried Aveeno too over the years but it’s not rich enough for my skin, whereas the astral settles on it nicely
