Breast lump and pain. What would you do?

I felt a lump in my breast last night and on pressing it, it was painful and since then my breast has been really achey and sore.

I went to doctors today and she couldn’t feel a lump so has said it’s ligaments and to go back in a couple of weeks if it’s still sore.

But I’m still concerned. We are told to know our body and to tell when something is different so I feel a bit dismissed.

Would you look to go to a private screening if there is such a thing or just wait and see?

It's most likely a cyst and they can be painful, but personally I'd still want it checked out

I had a lump (not painful) and went private to get it screened because the breast clinic was a 4 week wait and it was causing me a lot of anxiety. It was a cyst.

The way I looked at it was that it was the price of a long weekend away and I got more out of a month not worrying than I would have out of a fun weekend

dingdong Thanks for replying, and I agree it’s probably a cyst. I would like to know one way or another and I’m presently looking at private screening for the peace of mind if nothing else.

It hurt when I just cuddled my daughter.

My mum died two years ago from cancer (not breast) and her diagnosis and treatment was appalling so I’m just not feeling reassured at the moment, although I do know it’s unlikely to be anything serious.

It will be worth the cost, even though I'm sure its perfectly fine. You can't put a price on peace of mind Flowers

Can you still feel a lump?

If so, I think I wouid go back, try and see a different GP, explain you can still feel it and how worried you are.
