Work from home ideas/how to top up household income

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/10/2018 15:14

I'm in desperate need of ideas to top up our household income to the tune of around £500pm. I've tried matched betting, and I didn't have the funds to keep at it. I have young children that aren't in nursery so it needs to be something I can do at home in the evenings. I can write (though don't take this thread as proof of my skills!) and I am educated to degree level, but I have been a sahm for yonks and don't have an established career to fall back on.

Please help!

I have nothing to add except I do matched betting full time as a stay at home mum.

It is a completely doable second income so it can work. You'd just need a dedicated start up find of £100+. With enough hours available you can make £500+ a month. Message me if you need any help

What is matched betting? I’ve never heard of it.

Have you thought about doing dog boarding or hosting students?

mamahanji · 18/10/2018 17:13

Google team profit and have a look.

They explain it all brilliantly.

sausageinmypocket · 18/10/2018 17:28

Thanks. I gave it a go and enjoyed doing it but although my exchange balance kept going up, I couldn't keep putting the cash in to the bookies. Now I don't even have £50 to start up again with, let alone £100.

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/10/2018 17:29

Forgot to NC. No space for students and we have a dog so can't board them either

You can start with as little as £25. And you just withdraw from the exchange and move it around.

Anyway, it's not for everyone but it's the only thing I know that means I can earn from home.

Best of luck

Build up your skills base by volunteering and have a look at charities and e following sites for flexible posts.

Volunteering is a great idea but I think that will have to wait until the toddlers are getting their funded hours at nursery.

I feel in a bit of a rut tbh! I want to do something, but everything seems out of reach

I tell you what kind of ‘service’ I’m interested in is a one off deep cleaning/organising helper. I would pay £100 plus for a day of someone’s time helping me on a Saturday/Sunday to put the house back together. I mean helping me work from top to bottom - stripping sheets etc. I don’t want a regular cleaner, just someone who can help when it is a bit hectic. That isn’t exactly working from home though but I would definitely be flexible for the right person.

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/10/2018 20:31

Fantasia that is a great idea!

Getting £500 a month from work at home, non skilled work will be quite an ask.

If your household income needs to be increased, could you work out of the home in evenings or weekends when your husband is home with the children?

Yellowsunredroses · 18/10/2018 21:00

Babysitting/nannying

You don’t need a qualification to babysit - offer your services on a local Facebook page

You’d need your partner at home watching the kids though

Yellowsunredroses · 18/10/2018 21:00

Is cutting back not a better option?

Yellowsunredroses · 18/10/2018 21:08

Also ironing

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/10/2018 21:11

There's nothing left to cut back! I wish that was an option.

I could work out of the home. There's a job at my local Tesco for four evenings from 8pm a week that I am going to apply for. DH doesn't get home til gone 6, which is a bit of a pain for evening shifts but I'm sure it can be worked around.

Even a couple of hundred would help a lot. It doesn't have to be 500... I was just being ambitiousGrin

Op can you type fast and accurately? I do audio typing from home.

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/10/2018 21:35

Yes I can. How did you get in to that?

Maccycheesefries · 18/10/2018 21:48

That people per hour site I posted has admin & audio typing jobs you can do for home. Also check out the mumsnet jobs site which has a few working from home jobs advertised this week.

foxessocks · 19/10/2018 14:30

I started doing it like you to top up money and now I find it great to do around the dc there are companies out there that will pay you per minute of audio you type, have a Google - but just make sure they are legitimate!
