Significant pay rise

What would you consider a significant pay rise?

My boss has just told me he has put in for me to have a significant pay rise for April next year. I'm intrigued to find out what it will be but not sure if it's cheeky to ask?

I'd have said "Oh? How significant?"

I'd say 15% is significant...

Dhapeer · 18/10/2018 11:59

I'd say anything upwards of 10% would be significant enough? Then again, it could be 20% or 50% or 12%. Who knows lol. Long time to have to wait to find out!

amusedbush · 18/10/2018 12:40

I would also say 15% or above is significant.

yep, 15% and up

SweetLathyrus · 18/10/2018 14:30

Right now, that would be anything over 1% to me, but certainly you should expect well above inflation as a minimum. Does your employer have a pay scale or do you negotiate separately?

fussychica · 18/10/2018 15:29

Well lots of people have been getting 1% if they're lucky so with that in mind I suppose as little as 5% could be classed as significant as that's above inflation.

When I was working I suppose above 10% would have been classed as significant.
Fingers crossed for youSmile

Kemer2018 · 18/10/2018 15:31

33% for me

BeaTrewts · 18/10/2018 15:34

Depends what you're earning now.

dodobookends · 18/10/2018 15:35

Does it also include a significant increase in workload to match?

RedBlu · 18/10/2018 15:36

I got 15% the other year and was classed as a "significant pay increase" by my boss
