Apologies but a slightly disgusting and very boring open blister wound question

So I managed to completely skin my heel and it was ridiculously painful. There was a huge blister that was halfway off before I even took the offending shoes off. Used a blister plaster that stayed put for a couple of days and then used another one that has just come off. There is no blister liquid left, just a huge flap of loose skin and a very very red raw skin underneath.

I have to be able to wear closed shoes as of tomorrow.

Am I best leaving it to the air or covering it up? Should I use a normal plaster or another blister one?

Told you it was disgusting and boring!

Thank you

I would leave it to air as long as you can and when you have too put your shoes on put on a blister plaster. I shredded my heals breaking in DM's and did the above and it was the best way to heal them. 👍

I usually cover up when wearing socks/shoes just to stop rubbing and fluff getting in it. But then I'd take the plaster off at home.

Compeed plasters are the only good thing for blisters.

Ok brilliant. Thank you. It was a compeed plaster I had on first and then a sainsbury's own version of that for the second. I think i have one of each left that is going to be big enough. Will leave it to the air for the rest of today and then stick the plaster on tomorrow.

They were such lovely shoes but I have never done such damage to a heel in such a short amount of time!

As for tomorrow, what I often do - is to make a "cushion" to lift the wound over the edge of the shoe - ideally roll up a fairly thick wad of kitchen towels or similar to go just under the heal inside the shoe, could even be rolled up sock.

At times I did that on the same day and in the same shoes that caused the blister (in desperation).

Good idea. Will see if I can make that work. Annoyingly, boots are more painful because at least they would have hidden everything!
