Hairy arms

Exactly that..... i have hairy arms, always have but they seem worse lately, not sure if it's because they are worse or if it's because I'm generally having a crisis of confidence. I feel sooooo conscious of it.
Anywho, I don't really want to shave as I don't want it to come back stubbly. Does anyone use hair removal cream? Any tips? Thanks.
Hairy Mary.

Hi after about 4 years of using a Phillips lumea, I can now go through the summer sleeveless. If you are fair skinned, the darker the hair the better.
On the plus side, it doesn’t hurt and the hair comes back more fine.
On the negative side, if you have dark skin, it doesn’ work very well and there aren’t immediate results.

I still get the odd dark hair, which I can ignore or zap. It is now at the point that only I would ever notice.

4 years ago, my arms and legs were so bad, I kept them covered irrespective of weather, now, I’m still working on my much improved legs.

For me epilating is more painful than waxing, but we’re all different.
Buy some wax strips, it will take you 10 , 15 minutes to do your arms.
If you don’t like it you can buy a cheap epilator.

I've shaved mine since 18ish. They only really need done once a week and the regrowth doesn't look ridiculous.

I have very dark hairy arms too - it even grows over the backs of my hands and on my knuckles... after years feeling ashamed, covering them up, sometimes bleaching or using hair removal cream, I took the plunge and started shaving them. I do it in the shower every morning and it only takes a couple of minutes. Well worth it in my opinion for hands and arms I don't feel self conscious about.

I don't have PCOS or hormonal issues, just lots of body hair. Lucky me :)

My DD has hairy arms. She uses cheap wax strips. She says its quick and easy.

I really don't get the issue with women having hairy arms. It's normal and personally why put yourself through the faff? It's absolutely nothing to feel self conscious about. If you want to be hair free for yourself, then crack on. Once you start you may have to keep it up though....

Mine are hairy too. I didn’t feel too self conscious until a friend thought my arm was a man’s arm in a photo.

Normally I trim mine in the summer as they look better when the hairs are shorter. I don’t shave them as I once did the forearms, but then the upper arms looked weird, so I did those too, but then it looked weird that I had downy hair on my shoulders but completely bald arms... I think if I shaved them I’d have to shave my whole body!

I should add that when I was younger they were hairier and the hair was much darker than it is now in my late 30’s. Don’t know why that has happened but it’s very welcome Smile

(My bikini line however seems to be spreading ever closer to my knees Sad)

You could say the same about all body hair though (and I do!). But if someone feels embarrassed about it, it's not a big deal to remove it.

Inforthelonghaul · 19/10/2018 10:14

I epilate mine because the hair grows back finer and more sparsely and now after a couple of years they’re a lot less hairy than they were. I also feel that because it doesn’t totally strip the hairs in the same way waxing does it’s a lot more natural looking and I don’t need to go above the elbow.

SerenDippitty · 19/10/2018 10:18

I have hairy arms but it’s fair downy hair (even though my head hair is dark). I don’t think there is anything wrong with it - am I wrong? Are other women looking at me and thinking “urgh”?

JaneJeffer · 19/10/2018 10:27

I like my hairy arms and I don't care what anyone else thinks about them. I've got enough grooming to do without adding arms to the list.

Tubbyinthehottub · 19/10/2018 11:53

It's expensive and takes a while but if you're fair with dark hair I'd try a Philips Lumea. I have one for my legs and it is loads better than an epilator.

squirrelnutkins1 · 19/10/2018 12:21

Thanks for all your comments. Seems we're all different.

I don't look at anyone else's arms and think 'yuk'. It's just how I feel about myself.

I used hair removal cream last night, used Veet for sensitive skin.... majority of my arm is ok.... but have ended up with this so got to cover them up anyway 😂

I know what you mean about hairy hands and knuckles. I get that too 😩 mainly light hair so that's good but my arms were just getting me down.

I've started now so looks like I'm in it for the long haul now 😂

Ok! I'm prepared to be flamedGrin. You'll understand after you read my addition to the thread.

I've had hairy arms all my life. One day when I was about 12, I was stirring soup. The hair on my arms caught fire. I strangely didn't panic, but stepped back from the cooker hob and dusted my arms down towards the floor. My forearms were as smooth as a babies bottom. I was enthralled. Since then, I've turned my arms quickly in the gas burner, and dusted my arms down every April/May to get what I call my ' summer arm's. That was 50 yrs ago. Never had a burn ever on my forearms, and it's over in about 25 seconds. The results last until late autumn.

I'm not advocating this as a solution. My Dh & family think I'm a grade A divit.
