There will be 6 of them. I thought a dvd, popcorn and pizzas but they are here for 2 hours so trying to think of an activity. My daughter wants to make friendship bracelets but I'm not sure. They are a funny age. Think they are so grown up but not really! 3 of them have phones and don't want them sat around their phones.

Craft activity of some description? Deco patch a couple of Christmas decorations? Bakeoff cake decorating competition? You can buy plain cupcakes or bake your own and provide icing/sprinkles etc, and give them a theme to work to. Or buy beads and findings for a jewellery making session? Or make slime?

Jewellery is a great idea. Where can you buy kits?

If your daughter has told you she'd like to make friendship bracelets why can't you let them do that? She's told you what she'd like to do

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 16/10/2018 09:32

baking/decorating ready-made cupcakes has never failed here - you could do that as well as making friendship bands.

Doobydoobydooyeh · 16/10/2018 09:33

Batface they can do that too but it won't take very long and I wanted a few more ideas to fill the time. :)

When dd is older, my plan is to have an ice cream bar - sundae glasses from the pound shop, sweets, cream and sauces so they can make their own sundaes.

AviatorShades · 16/10/2018 09:35

Friendship bracelets is a great idea. I'd go with that,OP.Smile

AviatorShades · 16/10/2018 09:37

And now you're getting some more excellent suggestions.Smile

Some more grown up games? My DD just went to a party where there was a quiz about the birthday girl (multi choice questions ) and a prize for the winning team, guess the number of lollies in a pretty jar (which was the prize) and spin the bottle where the bottle was nail polish and if it landed on you, one of your nails was painted that colour. They used about 10 different colours, alternating so each girl ended up with a rainbow hand
The chocolate game always goes down well.
I also play one where they are blindfolded and have 3 chances to use a spoon to transfer cotton wool balls from one bowl to another. It’s funny to watch as they can’t tell if they have any on the spoon because they are so light. Winner is the one who transfers the most.

If they are there for 2 hours then by the time they've watched a DVd and eaten pizza they'll be leaving!
I'd go for simple craft as your daughter suggests that they can do while watching the movie. Pick something they haven't seen before or something they know well and can sing along to.
Try the friendship bracelets made with a cardboard disc so they don't have to concentrate once they get into the rhythm.

ApolloandDaphne · 16/10/2018 09:47

At that age mine liked decorating biscuits or gingerbread with tubes of icing.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 16/10/2018 09:56

Don't necessarily expect them to sit and watch the DVD, once one gets bored and wanders off the party disintegrates. Fimo might be fun. Decorate their own pizzas, decorate cupcakes. I would try to just have a range of craft.

Dancergirl · 16/10/2018 09:59

Agree with making pizzas or making ice cream sundaes. We have done both and have been very successful.

I would also tell the parents not to allow their dds to bring their phones. I was very grateful to the party mum who did this when my dd was going to a party and didn't have a phone yet.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 16/10/2018 10:11

Make pizzas instead of buying them - can buy plain bases/sauce/cheese, or you could buy cheese pizzas and let them do their own toppings, but the first takes longer

Then you cook them while they put a film on and start on some popcorn, eat them while watching rest of film (pause for some photos with their creations)

After the film let them decorate some plain cupcakes (maybe you and DD could make earlier in the day, keep her busy and she will like to be able to say that she made them) with dishes of icing and sprinkles and sweets out. You could do one to eat as their dessert and one to take home, cupcake, little bag of popcorn and friendship bracelets = party bag

Doobydoobydooyeh · 16/10/2018 12:27

Some great ideas thank you. Yes can't see them sitting and watching a film without getting bored. Their attention span will drift

It's straight after school so can't do much in the day.

My DD has a kit to make Pandora bracelets. You use polymer clay that you make into the beads, it also has extra charms. You might need to buy a couple of kits but it would be ideal as you could bake the beads on the oven while they’re watching the movie. Only problem is I can’t remember the name of the set!

Doobydoobydooyeh · 16/10/2018 20:36

This is all great thank you.

I asked DD 11 and she's no bloody help. She has no ideas. Hmm

Making homemade smoothies goes down well. Buy some strawberries, bananas, kiwis, blueberries or whatever they like and add a splash of apple or orange juice and pour into some glasses (reusable plastic ones with lids and a straw to pop through lid). Works if you have a juicer or a jug blender.

Make a make shift photo frame (can buy blow up ones) and lots of fun items to dress up in: wigs, boas, fun glasses and hats etc and do selfie photos like a photo booth but outside a booth. You could set up a curtain or against a plain wall and use an iPad or similar then send them the pics via email as a memento of the party. Or just set up a mirror and no photos needed.

Doobydoobydooyeh · 16/10/2018 22:45

I love the photo idea!!
