For anyone who has seen the show, did you see both parts on the same day, or did you split it over 2 days?

And if you saw them both on the same day, how long was your break between the end of the first show and the start of the second?

I've seen it twice, both times I watched both parts on the same day. The break is about 2.5hrs if I remember correctly, enough to get out, have a munch and a little walk.

There's lots of food places within a 5-15minute walk, my only advice would be to pick a place before you go - it's a prime tourist area and service is ridiculously slow!

LiverbirdNo1 · 15/10/2018 21:52

Saw it on Saturday (both parts). First part started 2pm, finished 4.50pm. Second part started 7.30pm, finished around 10pm. So a 2hr 40min break, but they recommend arriving half an hour beforehand and being in your seat 15 mins before the show starts, so more like a 2hr break.

As above. A couple of hours. Time to go for dinner (pre-book somewhere) and be back in good time as you have to go through security bag checks etc. Enjoy! It’s amazing!

Couple of hours. Ample time for a trip to a nearby branch of GBK.

We went to a Jamie’s Italian. Good meal actually. We’re taking DD in March so will do the same again.

CabotCoveMaine · 15/10/2018 22:33

Same day too here. It was a good couple of hours in between, which we used for burgers then a trip to Hummingbird Bakery Grin.

Also the play is AMAZING. I wish I could go again Envy

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 15/10/2018 22:43

MinaLima is an excellent place to visit while you're there, but it does get very crowded during the interval so best to go before the show.

Stephisaur · 15/10/2018 22:52

We saw both parts on the same day (Wednesday). We had a couple of hours.

We walked to Leicester Square, got some food and looked around the lego store.

It’s a great play :)

I've been twice. Thursday/Friday both times.

I loved the anticipation on the Friday.

Took my SIL the last time and could hear her chattering away to DBro in the guest room for ages after we got home on the Thursday night. DBRo was very obviously trying to go to sleep but she was just hyper excited. It was lovely.

strawberryalarmclock · 15/10/2018 23:02

Sorry to hijack but how did you all get tickets?!

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 15/10/2018 23:35

@strawberry It was via one of the general ticket releases. It was a major scramble to get them and a whole working day and I regarded myself as quite lucky to get them. They also cost me an unholy three-figure sum, and the date was 18 months in the future.

So, err, yeah, with difficulty.

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/10/2018 00:14

I went on Saturday too and saw both parts. We were a bit worried about having enough time to eat between performances but it was no problem. As pp said, there are lots resautants within a few minutes' walk of the theatre. We booked for five o'clock, the first half ended about 4.40 and we had plenty of time to stroll to the restaurant. We didn't bother returning to the theatre until 7 as the queue of theatre-goers moves very quickly and the staff inspecting your bags are very quick and efficient. (They actually ask you to be there an hour before each performance but it's really not necessary!) It's a great show, with fantastic special effects!

SellFridges · 16/10/2018 07:18

We’ve got tickets through the main release. We actually went for the first time two years ago just after it opened. We were sat in the very cheap seats (£15 each I think!) and as adults they were absolutely fine. We got lucky again recently as we wanted to take DD who is Harry Potter mad, but have gone for the three figure option this time as we know it’s justified.

Mhw02 · 16/10/2018 08:47

I went on consecutive days - pretty sure it was the final performance of previews. Got the ticket by continually checking the website, and eventually a single seat came up. Unfortunately it turned out to be a terrible seat that cut off the view of 2/3 stage. I had to watch the entire show leaning forwards (there was no one behind me) and I still couldn't see everything.

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 16/10/2018 08:54

Saw it on the same day. Went to the Hamyard hotel to eat. Plenty of time.

MsSquiz · 16/10/2018 15:36

Thanks for all of the replies. 😊
I think we are going to do consecutive days. DH gets ants in his pants at the best of times! So it might be nice to break it up, plus we'd be staying in London for 2 nights either way, so no difference cost wise

I went to both parts on the same day and I was properly panicking about not having enough time to eat in-between parts... We ate at Herman Ze German which was just found the corner and still had time to walk to Starbucks and have a drink before we went back.

Little tip... They say you can't take in outside food and drink but they will let you take in a bottle of water. Do this! We paid nearly £7 for two regular bottles of diet coke inside Shock

Bettercallsaul1 · 16/10/2018 23:20

Yes, we took in bottles of water too (quite big bottles!) and no one blinked an eyelid, including the very friendly bag-checkers!
