Not saying 'troll' but querying genuineness

So..let me get this straight. Are we never, ever allowed to say that a poster or their thread is perhaps not bona fide? I've just had a post deleted for suggesting the post may not be genuine.

I've been on threads where posters say this all the way through and nothing happens. Why the inconsistency? @MNHQ

Well no, anything alluding to 'troll hunting' isn't allowed.

I know how annoying that is though when one appears blatantly bullshitting and you want to warn other posters about it.

Best thing is to report it and cross your fingers 😬

FermatsTheorem · 15/10/2018 21:40

If it's a case of worrying as you watch other posters blunder into unwittingly oversharing/providing wank fodder a general "while I'm sure this poster is above board cough troll cough, do remember this is the sort of topic which can attract trolls so don't over share" warning is usually deemed okay I think. ( Though obviously you leave out the crossed out bit).

MNHQ don't monitor threads unless they get a report.

Someone reported you for troll hunting (and rightly so) but the troll hunting posts you saw were not reported to MNHQ.

No, you never ever are! It is the ultimate big NO NO on Mumsnet.

TrippingTheVelvet · 15/10/2018 21:55

Just report the thread and MNHQ will check it
