Red hot arm 4 days after flu jab

I had a flu jab last Friday afternoon, doctor said my arm might get “slightly red and a bit warm” for a day after but it’s still hot and red and slightly swollen (though not as swollen as it was). The redness has shrunk slightly

Is this normal? 3 days feels like a long time!

I’ve just had my flu jab, the leaflet says if symptoms continue for over 48hours to seek medical advice.

If it's going down, probably not really a worry - if not, get it checked.

Mine felt bruised for about five days, enough that it woke me a couple of times when I rolled over to that side.

I had the same thing. My arm also felt lumpy at the injection site and I felt very sorry for myself. It all calmed down about five days later. Just be kind to yourself for a few more days and use it as an excuse to stay away from those chores you don't like doing.

If it’s going down it should gradually improve now. I had the same last year but barely anything tnis time. Rest it as much as possible and definitely no housework 😀

Thank you! MN to the rescue as always!

It’s my first ever flu jab so wasn’t sure what to expect but pleased to hear my arm won’t fall off! Wink especially thrilled about being unable to do housework...Grin

Every year I get a slightly different reaction. It’s always a bit of a lottery as to how much arm swelling, redness, feeling a bit shitty etc is going to be involved. Well for me anyhow. Oh yes the first thing they would tell you if you asked your GP is ABSOLUTELY no chores for as long as the redness and swelling are visible 😀👍🏻
