7 week old not waking in the night for feeds

Over the last 3 nights my 7 week old hasn't woken for feeds for 6-8hrs. Is this a cause for a concern. She's just starting to get over s cold.

Has she lost any weight?

Biancadelriosback · 15/10/2018 05:09

Sorry, I thought that said 3 weeks.
I'm guessing you won't have recorded any weight loss in 3 days, take her to get weighed if you can. Is she still having wet and dirty nappies?

LG123 · 15/10/2018 05:25

@Biancadelriosback I just realised it's been longer, her first long sleep was Tuesday night and it's been like it ever since. She was weighed Thursday at our 6 week postnatal check and had put on weight. Health vsitior clinic is this morning so will get her weighed again. Yep weeing and pooing as normal..

DS slept like this from about 6 weeks. As long as weight gain is okay and still having good nappies I would enjoy the sleep Grin if you're BF then you might want to express overnight

Rtmhwales · 15/10/2018 05:29

Weigh her every couple days for a week and see if she’s gaining any weight. As long as she’s gaining, my pediatrician said to let them sleep at this age.

PhilomenaButterfly · 15/10/2018 05:30

If she's putting on weight normally, I'd leave her, if not, I'd feed her every 4 hours.

blackcat86 · 15/10/2018 05:33

We've just had our postnatal nct meet up and at 7 weeks a lot of babies were sleeping from 11:30pm to 6:30am or 8:30pm to 3:30am. Sadly my 9 week old still wakes 3 hourly. It's all very normal just depends on the baby. If they're gaining weight and have normal nappies then you're just one of the lucky ones.

LG123 · 15/10/2018 05:38

Thanks everyone!

I know I probably sound as if I should stop complaining - most people would kill for 8hrs solid peace but if it was a cause for concern I'd rather her be waking every few hours. It would make me feel better lol. I will keep checking her weight and if there's will problem will feed every 4hrs.

From 3 weeks old my DD was like it. She's 11 now so it turned out she just really likes to sleep.

Neshoma · 15/10/2018 07:48

Mine DD slept through from 9 weeks but was a 9lb-er so had a bit more weight on her. I never thought of her losing weight - I was just ecstatic she was sleeping through.

GoodbyeSummer · 15/10/2018 08:01

I'm going to echo what pp have said: if she's taking enough milk during the day, still gaining weight and is producing enough wet/soiled nappies, just enjoy the sleep. Looking at my memories thing on fb, this time 6 years ago when my youngest was about 5 weeks old, they had started sleeping 7-6 overnight.

LG123 · 15/10/2018 08:58

Thanks guys.

@TaliZorahVasNormandy 3 weeks, wow lucky you!

@Neshoma I probably worry as much if she was a 9lber but she's not even 8lb yet. She was only a tiny baby at 5lb 10oz! I couldn't bare her to start losing weight.

@GoodbyeSummer Thanks, all is good in the daytime and normal nappies. Will get her weighed today to put my mind at rest Smile

I should point out DD was also a 9 pounder. That 6 hour stretch of sleep from 3 weeks saved my sanity.

Chocolateandcarbs · 15/10/2018 11:59

My babies both slept for long stretches at this age. Enjoy it! I sometimes tried to wake them for feeds and it was always a disaster, so I just enjoyed the rest!

mrsm43s · 15/10/2018 12:17

Both mine slept 11-7 very early - DD (who still is sleepyhead, even as a teen) was around 4 weeks, and DS fell into this pattern around 6-7 weeks.

LG123 · 15/10/2018 13:01

@TaliZorahVasNormandy Nice big baby then! Sorry my last comment was meant to say wouldn't worry as much. She was just so tiny!

@Chocolateandcarbs Now I've had her weighed today and she has continued to put on weight I will be able to start enjoying it thank you! Smile

My tiny daughter was 6 lb born. She slept 11 to 7.30 from 5 weeks, she’s 6 now and still a great sleeper. As long as your little one is having plenty of wet nappies and is putting on weight then just enjoy it!

Ariela · 15/10/2018 13:32

It's rare but happens, I could never admit among friends that mine slept through from 6 weeks. She did economise on daytime sleep, and dropped all daytime sleep completely by 17 months.
Still sleeps like a log overnight many years on!
So long as you've plenty of wet nappies by day and the weight is going on steadily then lucky you! It may not last of course!

MasterSensei · 15/10/2018 14:34

I understand your concern but i'd be dancing a bloody jig on top of the kitchen table if that was my baby!
If I wasn't too busy catching up on sleep...

BlackeyedSusan · 16/10/2018 07:30

we worried when ds only fed every four hours, after dd's every 30 minutes shenanegans.

you worry when they feed loads, you worry when they don't. Grin

Jimdandy · 16/10/2018 07:50

If she’s gaining weight, plenty of wet and dirty nappies I’d leave her.

I would do bedtime bottle at 7ish and a dream feed about 10.30pm though to hopefully avoid a middle of night waking

AamdC · 16/10/2018 08:19

All babies are different mine both used to wake briefly for a feed once during the night , my teeny tiny 5lb14oz baby put on weight really quickly (bottle fed) .
