Why would a house's sold price have vanished?

I was trying to remember what a house nearby sold for a few months ago. It's been on Rightmove and Zoopla with the sold price.

Today I looked on RM and the last sale in that road wasn't that house and the house I'm interested in is showing as having last sold X years ago at the price approximately half of what it sold for recently.

So I checked on Zoopla and the price was on there. Except I had that page open on my phone and I've gone to relook for the date sold and that 'sale' has disappeared! Back showing as the 'old' information I saw on RM this morning.

Why would this be?? Apart from to drive me nuts Grin The house was definitely moved into at that time as then I knew to look for the sold price. Very curious!

If the buyer doesn't have a mortgage and buys the house outright the sale sometimes doesn't show up

Yes that's true. But that's not what has happened in this case. It was showing in the past on both RM and Zoopla. Heck it was showing on Zoopla this morning!

Any other ideas?

I think the buyer can apply to have this infor removed. I was nosying at someone’s house that had sold and I couldn’t find the sale price anywhere. I suspect in that case the sale had actually fallen through and it’s disappeared from those sites

You can download a copy of the title from the land registry website. You'll need the full address and it costs £3 but will have the sale price stated on it.

I know the sale price as it was originally on Rightmove and Zoopla. It's just the surprise of how someone can get it removed? I know someone whose house sale didn't appear because it was mortgage free yes I'm a nosey bugger but to be on and disappear is a mystery. How would you and also why would you? It's a bog standard semi.

Does the owner know if you have done this? Asking for a friend.

Barbara I'm 99% certain they wouldn't know. I have had to do it before and if the other party had known I am sure they would have said something.
I think its a bit like birth certificates, as long as you have the required information then anyone can get a copy.

peony2325 · 23/10/2018 16:34

It's possible for homeowners to sign up to get an email alert if anyone downloads the title...part of the Land Registry trying to alert homeowners to potential fraud (e.g. there have been some cases of people getting fake IDs and selling or renting out houses that they don't own). Anyway it's quite a recent alert system and barely anyone knows about it, and also it wouldn't give the homeowner details of who has downloaded it.
