I thought it was a pile of black thread...

But it was a giant fucking spider!

I’m fine, I’m fiiiiiine.

I’ve set the house on fire obviously.

I’m a cross stitcher so threads get everywhere so it seemed reasonable that's what it’d be! Fucking thread, raisins, and tomato tops! All bastards.

I did this once! Exactly the same situation - my embroidery and threads were on the arm of the sofa - so was the spider...

GreyGardens88 · 14/10/2018 22:14

My friend the Broom comes in very handy in spider situations. For some reason in my house the giant spiders seem to favour the bathroom making late night toilet trips a terrifying proposition. They also seem to like the staircase rendering them impassable. Hopefully only a couple more weeks to go before we get shot of the b*stards for another year

Yoshi, who knew needlework could be such a high adrenaline hobby?! [grin)

This thread is very apt, this one had a lucky escape as it was inside my pillowcase 🙈

Figmentofimagination · 14/10/2018 22:21

I had one charge at me the other day. DH has just left the bedroom and I started the hair dryer when it suddenly ran across the room towards me. I don't know why the sound of the hairdryer made it do that, but as soon as I turned it off it stopped moving.
I then led on the bed with the light on my phone shining on it making sure it didn't move until DH came back in the room and got rid of it for me. It even blocked my escape route out of the bedroom.

onalongsabbatical · 14/10/2018 22:22

Kinda thing?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/10/2018 22:22

I was bringing the washing in yesterday (before it got darked on and the spiders wiped their willies on it)
I walked into a web and I must've alerted the spider that something had landed , the bugger tore along the strand onto my arm.

Hyperventilation didn't come close screamed like a little girl

mumsastudent · 14/10/2018 22:26

huh these always tickle me (the threads not the spiders! double pun here!) when I was a teenager stayed at my ds house in the country (Australia, folks guess where this is going!) the loo was on the veranda & a tarantula took up roost there - we walked round him (Her?) each time - too damn big to kill or move, she/he sat there most of the holidays glaring at us when we passed. big furry coat & all - they aren't poisonous they just have a face that (in the words of my old auntie) only a mother could love.

FantasticBadger · 14/10/2018 22:29

There was a monster on our high bathroom ceiling early yesterday morning, but when I was going for a shower I couldn't see it anywhere! Fastest shower ever.

TAMS71 · 14/10/2018 22:29

My worst nightmare...

Spray all your windows and doors with spider/insect spray, they all try to come out of the cold at this time of year the B*ards!!!!!!!

Poppyinagreenfield · 14/10/2018 22:31

I’ve done the same. It looks like a ball of thread. Get down on the carpet to have a close up just to make sure it’s not a spider...and ffs it is.

ToadOfSadness · 14/10/2018 22:38

Twice this year i have felt something tickling my foot, while standing by my bed. They know I won't hurt them and run across me. I keep a glass and card in every room and put them in the garage, first one was so big it only just fitted the glass. I couldn't pick one up though.

blueangel1 · 14/10/2018 22:38

I have an Aussie friend who has been chased by a Huntsman Spider; the buggers are really aggressive and fucking HUGE. She said she climbed on top of the washing machine until it wandered off.

AcrossthePond55 · 14/10/2018 22:42

I'll gladly take all your spiders if you'll take our potato bugs.

amymel2016 · 14/10/2018 22:43

I only found out this year that they shed their skin Confused I kept wondering why there were dead spiders around when DH cheerily told me they weren’t dead but their shed skins Envy (not envy)

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 14/10/2018 22:47

I found a load of unravelled black thread on the stairs at school (I'm a teacher) and thought how spider-like it looked. I was passing my colleague's classroom and just chucked it in his general direction as I passed. It landed on his keyboard right in front of him. The screams!!!! I had a good chuckle for quite some time (he's pranked me far too many times for me to feel guilty!).

Rainbunny · 14/10/2018 22:50

This brings up memories of childhood, my bedroom was wallpapered with a textured trefoil design. I would literally wake up in the night because I could hear the sound of a spider crawling across the raised trefoils on the wall above my head. Nothing scarier than turning on the bedside lamp to see a huge black spider 3 inches away from your head! And yes, I had freakily good hearing!

AdoraBell · 14/10/2018 22:50

I picked up a top from the pile on the side and one of the fuckers was nestled in the fucking sleeves, all cozy like Hmm

damekindness · 14/10/2018 22:55

I have decorated the house in really dark colours and though there's plenty of cobwebs I don't actually see any spiders...out of sight etc

blueangel1 · 14/10/2018 22:56

@Acrossthepond55 Christ almighty, I'll keep the spiders, thanks. DP thought it was cute Confused

yorkshireyummymummy · 14/10/2018 23:00

You horrid people!!
Poor Ovo has had to run away because you have infected her thread with spider pictures!!!
And don’t forget her house is burning down so all 8n all it’s a crappy night for her!

FermatsTheorem · 14/10/2018 23:16

Holy fuck AcrossThePond - that's bigger than some potatoes I've seen (certainly some of the ones I've tried to grow).

HedgehogPoo · 14/10/2018 23:21

There was an enormous spider on the collar of DP's shirt that was hanging on the front of his wardrobe. It was one of the jet black type with a fat body and short, fat legs and looked exactly like a fricken brooch on the collar. I hate the bastardy bastards and the only good spider is a dead one. Usually after being sprayed and then flattened by a handy flip-flop. One last year was so big and made such a big squishy mark when flattened, that I could have drawn around it like the CSI people do on crime telly, when there has been a murder. Yes, I know that I am truly evil and when I'm dead, the spider god will wreak its revenge. Do I give any fucks about it though....?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/10/2018 23:37

I'll take spiders over moths any day of the week.

I throw tomato tops at DD and shout "Pider" . She's Hmm

Bezalelle · 14/10/2018 23:37

I try to love and respect spiders because they're living creatures etc etc, but they are SO EFFING GRIM OMG
