Fancy sharing your work?

I’m quite into it at the moment, and am working on a Bargello. This is it so far.

That's lovely. I like the colours OP.

I like sewing and I'd like to try quilting more this winter. There's some lovely designs on Pinterest.

CormoranStrike · 14/10/2018 19:24

Oh yes, I am practically addicted to Pinterest.

That's awesome! I'm just a beginner, but I've made this hot water bottle case and a blanket for my son...

Very nice work.

I’m a beginner too, the Bargello is MUCH easier than it looks.

I haven't braved doing anything more complicated than stripes yet! Your Bargello looks beautiful, I love the pattern :-)

RobinHumphries · 14/10/2018 21:07

Unfinished but here’s my attempt

This batik stained glass type one is my favourite one of the few I have made. Not too complicated once I'd worked out what size I needed all the blocks to be.
Your bargello is looking great!

Not the best picture but this is my latest. It's my fifth quilt.

Robin (great name) I love the colours in yours but they are all fab.

emeraldislegirl · 14/10/2018 23:11

They are lovely quilts.

CormoranStrike - I love bargello quilts and you have picked great colours.
tinofbeans - I really like the blanket for your son. It is simple and really effective.
RobinHumphries and AgathaRaisinsCat there is alot of work in those quilts.
BigStripeyBastard - that stained glass is really vibrant.

The vehicle quilt I made for my nephew and the other one is hanging in the playroom.
I love piecing quilts but I enjoy quilting even more,

Those are all AMAZING.

I've thought about learning. I already cross stitch and have thought about making the patterns into a big quilt.

But it looks hard!

Atchiclees · 15/10/2018 00:51

I have just started to teaching myself. Made two small baby quilts so far. How do you get the swirly stitch patterns across the whole thing? I found that difficult enough with a baby size blanket to roll it up in the machine.

CormoranStrike · 15/10/2018 06:35

My local patchwork shop has a simply sixteen long arm machine you can hire and use on their premises - it’s amazing and so much fun to do.

The free motion quilting is perhaps my favourite bit! I just did a random meander, but their are patterns I could have followed if I wanted.

emeraldislegirl · 15/10/2018 09:19

The long arm machine hire sounds like a brilliant set up.

I do all my quilting on my domestic brother sewing machine. I quilt very densely and I spend hours quilting.

tinofbeans · 15/10/2018 11:12

Emeraldislegirl the quilt with all the trucks on is amazing! How did you do all the different vehicles?

ElasticFirecracker · 16/10/2018 08:35

I'm so impressed with these quilts. My favourite has to be @emeraldislegirl 's vehicle quilt all the words individually stitched and the detail of all the vehicles.

I had been looking at a video about making crazy quilts from Arne and Carlos the Scandinavian textile designers. I though their method might be something I could manage. They base their designs on fabric squares of an identical size, then sew scraps of fabric onto the squares, then join all the squares together.

This is a link to the video. I sense that theirs is a completely different approach to quilting and is probably more 'patchwork' - they are using old scraps of fabric rather than designing quilts with new fabric. I'd be interested to know what any quilters think of their method.
