A really comfy budget-ish sofa

Hi,
Our last sofa is from DFS. It looks good and is ok but the cushions aren't so comfy any more. It's 2 years old. We are moving to a bigger house so need another sofa. Are there good, comfy sofas for under £500? Thanks

maybe this one here? link

Guardsman18 · 14/10/2018 16:59

I would try sofasofa.co.uk. My dfs sofa hasn't lasted either. The last one I bought from Odeon (sofasofa sell the same) lasted years and years and years.

I'm sorry I ever got rid of it tbh

3in4years · 14/10/2018 18:07

Oh I loved the m&s one! But maybe a bigger one would be better. Thank you both.

I have this with the matching armchair and chaise longue and omg... They are so comfy. I don't usually fall asleep on the sofa but since I got these, I'm quite happy to nap there!

Oh that's nice! Thanks

I was going to come on and say ikea. Sofas last forever

IdaDown · 14/10/2018 18:21

I’ve got 2 sets of different (sadly discontinued) Ikea sofas. Both must be nearly 10 years old and still going strong. Washable covers!

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 14/10/2018 18:22

We had a nabru one made nearly 10 years ago and it's still great

3in4years · 14/10/2018 18:24

Wow ok. I assumed Ikea was worse quality. Washable covers would be good though with 3 under 5s!

@3in4years

Some IKEA stuff is cheap crap and the padding just ends up flat. But some have extra springs and stuff and they last. So just be careful you don't get rubbish padded ones!

viktoria · 14/10/2018 18:44

Yes to sofasofa. They have a lovely Positano 3 seater reduced from £509 to under £400.
We bought a sofa with washable covers from there 17 years ago, because we wanted a cheap sofa that the kids could jump on. It's still going strong and super comfortable.

Xiaoxiong · 14/10/2018 18:53

Funny johnlapsley I just asked a friend how they managed to get a sofabed that fit into their loft extension and they said nabru and they've been really happy with it! Hadn't heard of it before and now twice in one day!

We have this. Washable covers, the seat bit is one long piece, it’s virtually a sprung mattress.

It fits loadsa kids and is deep enough to have a proper kip.

I love my Ikea Ektorp (And particularly the washable covers)

3in4years · 14/10/2018 19:49

Thanks for all the recommendations.

We’ve just bought a these 3 seater & 2 seater with washable covers from Ikea as we’ve got a dog,.. OMG - they are they most comfortable sofas we’ve ever had.

And the covers go in the machine - winner!

SantaClauseMightWork · 14/10/2018 20:48

Ikea all the way. I am planning to get one of those covers from a European company website that I saw online. Beautiful covers for a lot of their brands. Mine still looks like new after years of -ab-use with DCs.

DBN1 · 14/10/2018 21:03

I had 2 of these for 21 years (only sold because I moved abroad) they were still in pristine condition and soooo comfortable. They'd survived my son from newborn to 21, a dog and cats. I almost shed a tear when I saw them being squished into the buyers van on collection day.
I can't recommend them highly enough.

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 14/10/2018 21:11

We had Ikea Ektorps, the ones you can change the covers on. They were practically indestructible and only moved on to pastures new as they wouldn't fit through our tiny cottage door.
Our newest one is also Ikea and came in pieces so we could get it in. When we eventually move we will just leave it behind and deny all knowledge Grin

DBN1 · 15/10/2018 05:59

Sorry, I didn't put the link in my post and I can't find it now but it was the Ektorp leather 2 seater sofas that we had.

DBN1 · 15/10/2018 07:01

This is the one! Grin

Another vote for Ektorp here. I have had one in the conservatory for years. It gets a lot of use and still looks new. I have a set of spare covers for it, they are still unopened after 6 years as the main covers still look fab.

VintageFur · 15/10/2018 08:26

Sat on my 10 year old ektorp right now that's out-seen at least 2 other couches. It's on its 3rd set of covers which actually isn't so bad as you get to update your look cheaply.

TheFairyCaravan · 15/10/2018 08:37

We have got a Nabru sofa, it's incredibly comfortable and hard wearing. We're currently -arguing about- choosing new covers for it
