Got a new job in North Tyneside Hospital. I have twins of age 8 years.
Want to find a family friendly place to live near good public transport links.
Currently have a house offer in Caroline Gardens, Wallsend and nearest primary school is Denbigh Community School.

someone near the area please help me to get details.
Any other good suggestions about a better places and schools?

Thanks

Hi - I don't live in wallsend but I live a ten minute walk from Rake Lane hospital on the Marden Estate, Cullercoats.
How familiar with the area are you and where are you moving from?
It's a great place to live and bring up children.

Ellapaella · 14/10/2018 14:11

Are you committed to living in the house you mention above? If not would you consider living nearer to the hospital as Cullercoats, Monkseaton, Whitley Bay and Tynemouth have a range of excellent schools, some of the top performing schools in Tyneside.
We are a 30 minute metro journey to the city centre (Newcastle) and have the beach right on the doorstep.

Wallsend and North Shields can be a bit variable and I think it's best to be familiar with those areas before you commit to anything long term.
Rake Lane Hospital is North Tyneside Hospital, sorry if that wasn't very clear.
Someone who knows Wallsend better than I do may be able to recommend nice areas to live. Wallsend has a fantastic park for the kids.

I live near Denbigh, it's an outstanding primary school! My little one will be going to school there. As for wallsend I think it's got a great community feel to it, lots of places to occupy both older and younger children and handy for the metro to both Newcastle and the coast!

Like all areas some streets are not so nice but i think where you say is nice.

NCT267 · 14/10/2018 14:35

That's fast . Thank you so much ladies.
I have no idea about the area since I am from London. But I don't like to live very close to coastal area.
This house is the place I got from Hospital but I can change it.
Main concern is to find a nice school for my kids.

Thanks

Well school all sorted then as @Mammyloveswine says it's a great school so that must be lovely and reassuring to hear.
Good luck with your move - feel free to PM once you've moved if you want anymore local info. Hope it all goes well. You will love it up here, I'm from the south but moved up 13 years ago and never looked back.

Hi Ella,
Thank you so much for your effort. Its a great relief. Take care.

Sorry, where you're describing is not a very nice area. I don't know the school but Howdon is quite deprived, I work nearby and I really wouldn't live there. Wallsend town centre is also dire. As someone else said, the Coast is far nicer and the schools are fantastic. However, if you are dead against the Coast I would go a bit further in to Newcastle from Wallsend, such as Heaton, Jesmond or Gosforth.

Kids schooling is my top priority. So could you kindly name few good primary schools in coast as well. I can give a try to find a house using right move.

Primary schools - Kings priory tynemouth, marine park Whitley bay, Preston grange primary, rockcliffe first school, Whitley lodge first school. All good!

LatteLover12 · 14/10/2018 16:17

Whitley Bay High School is one of the best in the region so look at which schools feed into that.

Good luck with the move, it’s a lovely place to live!

Ellapaella · 14/10/2018 16:23

Mine go to Monkhouse primary which has had top results in North Tyneside recently and is excellent as is Cullercoats primary school. I have a sixth former who went to Marden high school which was fantastic and he's now at Whitley bay high, also very good.
Whitley bay has a three tier system and valley gardens is their excellent middle school.

Hello everyone!!
Thank you very much for all the information,
Still looking for a house.
Any idea about Waterville Primary?

Have you been up to look around the area OP?

NCT267 · 18/10/2018 13:18

Not yet. I am still in London. Planing to move mid December. I have no idea about the area. Looking for a good residential area with a walking distance school.
Since kids have to change the school I feel it risky to go for first school. So I kinda plan to find a primary school.

Thanks

Okay. I think it would be good to come and see the two areas that you are considering prior to committing before the move to be honest.
North Shields and the surrounding areas can be very variable, there are some lovely areas and some places that you probably don't really want to end up in.
It would be well worth your while coming up for a look around first if you can.
Personally I think if you can't come up and look round first then then most schools around the coast area are a safe bet and I have no doubt that you would be happy living there. The coast is the only area out of those mentioned that I'd move to without visiting first - so Tynemouth, Cullercoats, Whitley Bay or Monkseaton all of which have perfectly good schools.
