£1000 to take kids to Eurodisney - doable?

eek1234 · 13/10/2018 14:05

We have £1000 to spend on the kids and I’d love to take them to Eurodisney, just for a weekend, to see the Halloween stuff.

Is this feasible? Where do I start with it and does anyone have tips?

You mean on Facebook?

Where do you live? I did it for about £1300 but that was just one DC but staying on site.

There’s a brilliant Facebook group - think it’s Disneyland Paris for brits.

Most advise staying off site in the none Disney hotels. Eat before you go and take food / snacks for while you are there.

eek yes FB there's a dedicated page full of people going and those that have been and has all hints and tips where to eat and not to eat etc

Justlikedevon · 13/10/2018 15:25

If you want to stay in a Disney hotel it might not be, but if you are happy to stay elsewhere it will be.

Costcoqueen · 13/10/2018 16:42

Possibly doable by coach but flying may work out expensive. Coach companies such as National Express or Gold Crest Holidays have good packages, the only downside is the days travel there and back. I flew a few years back and I think I could have done Disney in America cheaper Grin. Was worth it though.

eek1234 · 13/10/2018 16:44

Just looking at flights 😱

I haven't been for years but you don't need to stay in a Disney hotel. There are many cheaper options which are in the same area but a longer shuttle bus ride in to the park. Maybe you could find something self catering. I think you would need to drive and take the ferry for that price though.

DragonMamma · 13/10/2018 16:46

Coach trips around here would come in at about a £1000 for 2A + 2C and I’d not fancy a coach trip from the North East

Daisypod · 13/10/2018 16:52

We drive when we go and that makes it much cheaper but I suppose it depends where in the UK you are.

redwineandcrisps · 13/10/2018 16:55

We got the train to London (also north east) and then the eurostar..... it was a full days travel and whilst I hate flying, I swore that’s what I would do next time. For coach trips though, national holidays were the cheapest from up here I seem to recall.

Youvegotafriendinme · 13/10/2018 17:01

To be honest I don’t think you’ll do it if you want to stay on site. Off site maybe. Try Disneylandparis website or magic breaks. Usually cheaper to do it DIY than as a packaging but play around with options. I’m going next Friday for 2 nights. 2 nights in new port bay compass club has cost me £690 for 2 adults and a 2 year old and that was 50% as we have annual passes. Eurostar £190 one way.
The Facebook group I’m on is Disney land Paris-TIPS FOR BRITS CHAT.

We have been 6 times this year so pretty knowledgable if you have any questions, I’ll be more than happy to try to help you

eek1234 · 13/10/2018 18:00

Have found what I think is a good deal via Magic Breaks.
£1103 - driving on Eurotunnel, accom two nights on park, half board (breakfast + eve meal, three days’ tickets!

Is driving an abject nightmare?!

OP posts:
eek1234 · 13/10/2018 18:00

That’s two adults, two D.C.

From the NE I'd be tempted to go by train, its usually a nice easy journey down to London arriving at Kings Cross so you can then walk straight across to the Eurostar area. Much more relaxing than the drive down the A1, round the M25 and through Kent to the Channel.

RememberUs · 13/10/2018 18:12

Which hotel?

eek1234 · 13/10/2018 18:38

Cheyenne?

Eurostar massively puts up the price!

If your ok driving abroad have you looked at Newcastle to Amsterdam ferry, the driving down into France. You sleep on the boat then set off from near Amsterdam at 9am.

Daisypod · 15/10/2018 19:05

The drive in France is very easy, about 3 hours. As for the drive in UK depends on your route. We tend to get a late eurotunnel the stay in the ibis budget in calais and set off to Disneyland the next morning as it breaks up the travel and gives more time in Disneyland. Ibis budget is £40-50 a night.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 15/10/2018 20:15

The drive is easy. We always drive to various locations in France. We’ve done Halloween at Disney as well as Christmas and Easter and I think Halloween was actually the best.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/10/2018 20:30

I liked Cheyenne. Easy to get to the park on the shuttle buses but not too far to walk either.

I chose it because it used to have a double bed and a set of bunks in each room, which suited the dc. Now I wouldn't go back there as all rooms have 2 double beds I think and the dc wouldn't share at the age they are now. :(

We did the 2 nights and 2 nights free offer that was on for Easter one year.

buscaution · 15/10/2018 20:33

When you are searching, search for Disneyland Paris. It's not been called Euro Disney for over 15 years.

Momasita · 15/10/2018 20:56

Op not read whole thread. Look at annual passes, you could probably get some for 600 ish.. Double check. Stay off site, look up adagio, hotel eylesse, hi Park (trip advisor) these three are close together share shuttle bus. Not as busy as hotels and shuttles on other side. Close to supermarket... Book own ferry, euro tunnel.

Or own flights. If you do this yiu can go again... Takes pressure off first trip where really you will be finding your feet and give you freedom of when to return.
People saving ££ doing it the cheapest way buy annual pass and stay off site.

However! Your North East, therfore look into efteling on Holland first! You could get ferry to Hook and be nearly there!

Just as magical, more in fact than Disney.. Cheaper, nicer accmd more relaxing... All based on fairy tales...

Def worth a look as your closer to it.

Momasita · 15/10/2018 20:57

Also people book premier Inn in Dover or near tunnel to break up long car journey
