Security camera placement

I'm sure some MNers will be able to help with this! Smile

Some fucker tried to break into our house (again) last night. We disturbed him and he legged it, police came out but we couldn't give a decent description etc.

Looking at getting some security cameras a) for deterrent and b) to show footage to the police as I suspect a lot of these people are known to the police (local junkies rather than criminal masterminds)

DP thinks all we need is a camera pointing down the driveway as this is the only access to the property and they couldn't avoid it. (Cost 1 camera)

I think we should have the above plus cameras covering all of the ground floor doors and windows - walking up a driveway isn't a crime, so they would need to be caught on film trying to pry windows etc? (Cost 5 cameras (technically 6 but the final window a miscreant would have to walk all the way around the house and pass 4 other security cameras, and couldn't possibly have a legitimate reason to be there))

We already have security lights but I'm pretty sure these guys don't give a shit, and the cameras would have night visiny anyway.

Its a small house so if we were in we'd always hear them, but it's so frustrating that the police can't do anything as "white bloke wearing a hoody" just isn't specific enough.

Get Ring floodlight cams, they are a little pricy but work fantastically well. There is a (£3?) monthly subscription which covers all of your cloud storage plus you can see anyone approaching when you're out, talk to them over a speaker and sound an alarm if necessary. We love ours.

Are they just in the cloud or do they have a memory card as well?

Ring is in the cloud rather then on memory card, they activate via movement (or if you choose to view them) and you get a notification on your phone
