Nice diamond earrings... £100?

Can anyone recommend a reputable site to buy a nice pair of studs for dds 16th? Budget around £100?

I've bought some plain studs for less than that from H Samuel recently. They have a diamond sale on too.

I'd repackage them though, the boxes are crap.

Also Argos have some good prices for diamond studs from time to time. Don't write off the cheaper end shops, you might be surprised.

Will look!

If you don't mind imitation diamonds, these are gorgeous:

If you’d consider imitation, have a look at diamonique from QVC.

Stellenbosch · 13/10/2018 07:37

No, wanted real. Hsamuel sale not bad actually.

Nice ones here, I remembered as I was looking for hoops for dd

Have you thought about lab grown rather than mined diamonds? They're still diamonds with the same chemical structure (so not CZ or mossanite), but cheaper, less environmental damage from mining/ no conflict stones and at that price band, you'll get a nicer stone.

I haven't tried this particular site so can't vouch for it, but there are a few jewellers cropping up who deal in them.

Ooh, they're quite nice!

I wouldn't have thought you could get nice, diamond earrings for £100?!
Will have to look now.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 13/10/2018 11:34

I’m a big fan of “manufactured”diamonds. They aren’t fake diamonds, they have the exact same make up and qualities but are ethical as well as beautiful.

Wineloffa · 13/10/2018 11:40

I don’t think you’ll get diamond studs for £100 to be honest. DH bought me a pair for my birthday last year and they were £600. Like others have suggested, you might have to go CZ.

tickingthebox · 13/10/2018 11:45

@DuvetCaterpillar those aren't lab grown diamonds they are cz's by another name.

lab grown diamonds are nearly as expensive as real ones.

@BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou - you need to be careful what you are looking at lab grown are nearly always yellowish. Many CZ manufacturers have "renamed" their stones to get people confused.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 13/10/2018 12:08

These are nice and the stones I’ve had are not at all yellow...www.sacet.com/diamond-earrings/stud-earrings

I misread this thread as:

"Neil Diamond's earnings"

MissMarplesKnitting · 13/10/2018 12:14

You won't get diamond but get some nice manufactured diamond ones.

Try Carat or similar like these? £79. I have a carat ring, and even as someone veith some jewellery background it's hard to tell it's not diamond. You can really only tell under loupe.

Stellenbosch · 13/10/2018 12:15

I'm confused?

So, these aren't diamond?

They better be, because I'm wearing them right now!

Yes those are diamonds, by law they have to be if they say they are. But, if you zoom in you will see they 'illusion' diamonds. The metal is cut to look like facets and the actual diamond is minuscule in the centre. They will likely be very poor quality too and they won't sparkle once out of the lights in the shop.

SilverHairedCat · 13/10/2018 12:23

Here is one next to my genuine diamond engagement ring (which needs a clean).

Ah @SilverHairedCat thank you! Yes you can see the difference in sparkle!

I had these in yellow gold for years until I lost one. They've never made them in yellow gold since, I check every year. Quite small but classic and certainly more sparkly than the fake diamond ones I wear now!

Didiusfalco · 13/10/2018 12:36

You haven’t got enough money for the classic ‘keep forever’ diamond studs so why not go for something more interesting? I know a lot of people like Alex Monroe, but there are loads of modern jewellery designers. Or has dd asked for diamond earrings?

Stellenbosch · 13/10/2018 13:34

The Alex Monroe stuff is a bit gaudy. No, I just thought it'd be nice. And I think £100 on a pair of earrings for a 16 year old would be enough to make them a keepsake?

OP posts:
SilverHairedCat · 13/10/2018 13:35

Tbf, I'd expect to see a difference between £39 and £1800... Grin

SilverHairedCat · 13/10/2018 13:36

And yes, £100 on earrings to me at any age makes them a lovely gift and keepsake.
