Looking for general feedback on this car please?

Is it a good family car? how's the boot? Any pros/cons?

Thank you Smile

DH has one, loves it. Nice compact car. Enough boot space for us family of 4, our sons are mid late teens, so lots of sports equipment etc. Can’t think of any cons so far, had the 2008 a couple of years now.

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 12/10/2018 20:08

What else are you comparing it with? Something bigger or smaller?

I currently have a 2008. Before that, I had a 308 SW (not the current model). The 308 was the most useful car ever! The boot was great, and the seats folded down flat (no use when you're transporting children though Grin ) The main reason I bought the 308 was that we were a family of 2 adults and 2 growing teens, and the long, high roofline of the 308 SW meant the teens were fine in the back. One had long legs, the other had a long back.

This is no longer a factor (not teens, and no longer living at home). DH and I went on holiday in the 2008, and probably covered 1000 miles in it. I'm perfectly happy with it, and I see loads of them around, so they can't be bad.

If you need more space, the current 308SW is much longer than the old one - about 1 foot longer, I think.

We've had several Peugeots and find them reliable and reasonably-priced to run and for maintenance.

We have a Ford Kuga at the moment. I don't drive though but hoping to have my license soon. We're currently in a lease but we'd like to buy our next car instead. Looking for something with decent boot space, reasonably priced and with a smaller engine than our kuga has. 2008 seems to tick all of the boxes. Can pick one up with under 10,000 miles for just over 12k. Seems to be perfect but just want to make sure there aren't any pitfalls we're missing.

Love it, lovely and smooth to drive, comfy, great boot space but still compact and easy to park. Only got the 1.2 engine but it’s got a lot of oomph and great on motorways and round town. I’ve got the brand new one and there loads of extras. Can’t fault it.

I've got one and love it, mine is 4 years old and sailed through it's MOT yesterday. We have a large Labrador and he fits in the boot with his bed and loads of room left.
Only minor niggle with mine is it has no cup holders.

HushAByeBaby · 13/10/2018 08:18

No cup holders would be a definite deal breaker for DH. We do long journeys and he's always stopping for coffee. I wonder if that's only some models.

HushAByeBaby · 13/10/2018 12:38

Anyone know any more about the cup holders?

OP posts:
George2001 · 13/10/2018 17:50

There are cup holders 2off

George2001 · 13/10/2018 17:52

I have a 65 plate in black a allure so many extras to many to mention.1.6 120bhp zero road tax

HelloCanYouHearMe · 13/10/2018 18:33

I have one. its shit. Purchased brand new last year, its been back to the garage 3 times with gearbox issues.

Spend your money elsewhere

HushAByeBaby · 13/10/2018 19:41

Oh no!! That doesn't sound so promising Sad

BabyMoonPie · 13/10/2018 19:52

We bought a 6 month old one (15 plate) and it leaked oil repeatedly before its engine was replaced under warranty. Then it started being noisy but the garage said nothing was wrong. We've just changed cars

BabyMoonPie · 13/10/2018 19:53

Oh, and the cup holders weren't big enough! Wink

Blondie1993 · 13/10/2018 20:39

We got one last year that seemed to be faulty. I was so glad it was faulty because I absolutely hated it Blush. It was horrible to drive, the steering wheel was tiny and it felt like I was driving a go kart! I do think they are nice looking cars but I realised I couldn’t go from driving a big car to the 2008 so we returned it.

HushAByeBaby · 13/10/2018 21:29

Well this has taken a bit of a nosedive 🙈

Redyoyo · 13/10/2018 21:41

My stepdad has one and he hates it.
He had a 3008 before the 2008 and he can't wait to go back to a 3008, unfortunately the car has depreciated that much a trade in won't cover the outstanding finance, so he's stuck with it for a few more months.
I've drove it a few of times and its a bit tinny and slow to pull away for me.

Howmanysleepstilchristmas · 14/10/2018 09:07

I wouldn’t worry about reviews that some new ones had faults. 1 car make (higher end) currently has 37% of new cars leaving the factory returning due to faults. Get one 3+ years old and the faulty ones should be off the road!
I have a 3008 and love it. Great fuel economy, lovely to drive and spacious. I’d assume the 2008 would be similar but smaller?
