plantar fascia.. shoes!

Hi!

I think I have plantar fascia, my heels are so painful, especially in my right foot. In the mornings I find it hard to walk on it. It’s still painful now. I think my flat primark ballet shoes are the reason. I find it hard to walk far because my feet hurt so much after. I have Clark’s brogues that I love but cause me bad blisters.

I love flat ballet type shoes to wear on my dress down days, when i wear leggings and brogues it doesn’t look good.

I’m 28 so I can’t find anything that doesn’t look too old. But I can’t carry on like this, it’s so painful 😪😪

I have PF in both feet. I have to massage my feet every morning before getting out of bed to 'wake up' the tendon; calf stretching exercises CONSTANTLY, roll a tennis ball on my feet when sitting down, wear trainers with arch support insoles (thankfully I can wear trainers to work), and yesterday had a very painful deep tissue massage on my very tight calf muscles.

I'm properly going for it at the moment as I've had it for so long and want to be rid of it now. Podiatrist reckons 4-6 weeks.

Get rid of the ballet flats, they're awful for your feet.

Unfortunately shoe-wise what works for one person doesn't for another. Crocs make mine far worse and I was warned by my podiatrist to avoid shoes with similarly soft soles such as Skechers go-walk. For me, Birkenstocks all summer, the styles that come up high over the instep, adjusted for a snug fit, not flapping about. Boots or trainers in winter with orthotic inserts, also boot slippers with them in at home. Stretching, massage (calf and foot), rolling a bottle of iced water all helped mine.

Skechers made mine worse but birkenstocks were great in the summer and I still wear them indoors. I wear Hotter shoes/boits/trainers with a semi rigid orthotic insole for PF. I have also bought some Mahabis for winter slippers and wear them with an orthotic.

I have some sketchers go walk for when it's really bad but once it's settled I wear boots with a very slight heel which seems to work. I also wear my sketchers as slippers and try never to have bare feet. It's miserable isn't it? I've had it for about 2 months this time and it's finally settled down now

I had it in both heels for over a year. I experiemented with various types of insoles worn in boots over the winter. Gradually worked when worn every day.

Fitflops are fantastic! I had PF for over a year and walking was agony - just two days wearing Fitflops and I have been almost pain-free ever since.

Also never go barefoot or wear totally flat shoes, try a night-splint which really helps with being able to walk first thing after getting out of bed, roll foot arch on a frozen bottle of water, PF exercises.

I also had Skechers Go Walk but found Fitflops much, much better
