OMG 😣 I feel like a terrible mother.

I’d left it on the sideboard. I just got it back from the child benefit people and it was still in an envelope. I cleared the shite off the sideboard a few weeks ago and now it is gone and nowhere to be seen.

Can I order a replacement? I still have the extract one it’s the full one that’s disappeared.

Genuinely feel terrible how could I be so careless with something so important

Yes you can order one. I'm not sure if you need to physically go in to get one or you can order online.

Look on the website of the registration district where you registered the birth. It will tell you how to order a replacement. Lots of districts let you order on line and they post the certificate to you. It will cost about £10.

Contact the registry office you registered at. Its very easy to get a copy.
I've lost far too many important documents to think it makes you a bad Mum Flowers

If it makes you feel any better, I lost DS's birth certificate in exactly the same way when he was a tiny baby. But I may be a worse mother than you because I only got it replaced this year so I could get him a passport. He's 3. Blush

Easy to get another one online, not expensive either.

My son's went missing, I ordered new one and it came back with wrong year of birth - seven years earlier! Should have been 9 at the end and 2 was written. He was well chuffed, meant he could go into a pub! No, I sent it back with a note and got another one, correct this time. Great disappointment from son.

Yes it is dead easy - you need to know your own name and place of birth and DP if on the certificate. I misplaced mine and ordered a replacement, and it is nicer than the misplaced one as they'd done a beautiful calligraphied one for the official records (my mum claims registrars used to have to have lovely handwriting) and typed up the other copies. Now with the other two found I have three!

I think it's £9 to order a new one. It comes quite quickly.
