Can we talk pubes?

If the title wasn't enough... this thread is about pubic hair. If you don't want to talk about it, don't click on a thread with the title "can we talk pubes?"

So anyway. I've trotted along most of my life with a manageable lady garden. From my teens to my mid twenties I pretty much shaved it all off or most off and never really thought about it much. The regrown was painless - maybe slightly itchy but never for long. No grief at all.

Now I'm 30. I've had three kids and it's like the bloody floor of a barbers shop down there. It's bloody everywhere! Tops of my thighs rising up to the top of my undies. It's like it's on some sort of steroids!
Admittedly grooming has been more sporadic with lots of small people running about, but now if I shave I get a gazillion ingrown hairs and it's back the day after.

How the heck do I deal with this? Waxing is not affordable. Home waxing.. nope I'd never pluck up the courage to rip it off!
How else can I look less like a ravaged badger down there?

@SuchAToDo do they hurt? My pubic hair pain threshold is currently untested

@WitBeyondMeasure imagine plucking out one pube with a pair of tweezers and how much that would hurt.
Now imagine every single pube being ripped out at the same time.

@Havaina crikey! Sorry, no I'm not. My lady garden is generally referred to as the Bush however I didn't want to upset people who may have thought I was getting political 😂

@JellieEllie yeah... no,
I might just make my husband take his glasses off!

Epilator.
It's not that bad, honest.

Havaina · 11/10/2018 23:55

Haha, what about hedge? Or thicket?

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/10/2018 23:57

I see Suchatodo already mentioned it.
That'll teach me to refresh the thread first!

WitBeyondMeasure · 11/10/2018 23:58

@Havaina do you think we would get a tax exemption if we applied to the council for support towards an area of abundance foliage?

Epilator??? are you MAD?

Try a beard trimmer, if it can trim a beard it can manage pubes.

VanGoghsDog · 12/10/2018 00:00

Hair removal cream is fine. Don't know why people are saying not to, I do. Obviously not on the inner bits.

t00dle00 · 12/10/2018 00:00

The last 2 times I've used hair removal creams, I've ended up with 2 abscesses which are agony!!

Mine is currently resembling a forest and I have no idea what to do with it.

Badfridgesmells · 12/10/2018 00:05

I say get in the bath. Soak a while, it's nice anyway and a treat. When you are warm and soaked enough, shaving is much easier.

The trick is not too often so maybe every 3-4 days ( for the ladygarden, not general hygiene) definitely not every day.

I use body wash or shower gel. And men's razors are thinner, more versatile and much sharper.

Munder · 12/10/2018 01:58

Just leave it?

This is coming from someone whose always had issues with hair removal. It's fucking annoying, spotty and sore and wtf is wrong with having hair there?

TipseyTorvey · 12/10/2018 02:55

Two things fixed my in growns recently. Firstly found out that modern style razors cause in grown hair as they 'lift' the hair up due to the multiple blade technology so i bought an old fashioned 'safety ' razor - the ones where you screw in a single blade - about £6 from boots. Always shave in the direction of growth only and Be Careful. Those buggers are sharp. Secondly i use an acid peel like glycolic acid weekly (just slap on residue when putting on face, nothing special). Has totally fixed the issue.

I tried an epilator - great for legs but nowhere else - not just the excruciating pain but caused bruising and swelling - took a week or so to recover!

Sensitive / intimate hair cream removal cream - perfect (but follow the instructions)!!!

I’m with Munder . If it hurts/gets rashy/gets itchy, is it worth it? It’s just a trend, and in such a personal region, does it really matter?

I have never been one for getting rid of the full bush, I have sensitive skin so just no, plus I don’t like how it looks or feels. I used to trim but now I honestly can’t be arsed.

I also want my daughter to grow up knowing that some women have pubes and that that is ok. Precious few examples in the media these days.
