Can a dentists appointment last an hour an a half?

Just that, really. Is it possible for someone to be at a dentists appointment for that long? I do have a reason for asking but I don’t want to look like an idiot if I’m wrong!

Comoran legally yes, but I had time off with a broken bone, followed by 2 days off with a sickness bug last year and got put on an attendance warning thingummy. I’m trying to not rock the boat again for a good while if it’s something that I can fit in outside working hours. I think that’s why the conversation with the dentist’s receptionist upset me - I had in my head I could squeeze it all in relatively soon and now my dreams are dashed Grin

Thanks to all for the answers. I’ll make the most of it when I go and just enjoy the lie down!

E20 yes, my dentist’s receptionist. She’s terrifying. She tuts at everything you say and makes it as hard as possible for you to see the dentist, so I did wonder if she’s just trying to put me off ( especially as I asked for a lunchtime appointment). Last time I was there she shouted at a man paying for wasting her time when his card didn’t go through. Shock

Yes, 60-90 minutes for root canal would be quite usual.
I have booked 4 hours before for 2 crowns, made in house.

My DM had a epic four-hour appointment once as part of having her dental bridge removed and replaced. A couple of 'short' two-hour appointments followed that one 😳

My root canals could easily take 90 minutes for the first appointment sorry OP, normally an hour but lets say I'm running 10 minutes late and its a bit more complicated than I was expecting it could run to 90 especially if its a molar. If I can see its going to be difficult I would book 90 minutes

When I had root canal, the receptionist booked 2 x 1hr appointments. Then there's the waiting before you're seen, if the dentist is running late. With root canal, the dentist often comes across unforeseen problems. Sorry!

Yes OP I had two root canal appointments of 90 minutes each.

You have to be really well numbed up too, and sometimes people need more added after the initial injection.
