I've only gone and passed my driving test on the 5th attempt!!

I've posted on a few threads over the past few months (name changed since though) about how crap I am at tests and how I kept on failing due to nerves. But today I finally did it!! I was nervous again and the examiner could see me physically shaking (I thought he was going to end the test at one stage) but I got through it and I bloody well passed with 4 minors :)

It took me many years to attempt to learn as I've always thought I couldn't do it and was actually scared of learning. I've had soooo many lessons (probably more than 50) and failed 4 times but I knew I couldn't give up, I was so close the last 2 times and just had a feeling I would get it this time.

I am so happy so I had to start a thread, NOT for praise (honest guv!) but to show those who have failed a few times that it's worth keeping going no matter what. It's absolutely shit failing but that feeling today when he said I's passed is something I never thought I'd experience.

I don't think I'll sleep tonight! I'm now looking at cheap cars to get me through the next year or so until DP trusts me to share his and have fallen in love with a little VW beetle which is out of my price range but fuck it, I'm having it!!!

Well done!!

I can recommend having a lesson or two after you pass your test, I did some time on a motorway and it was really useful.

PS congratulations, it's a great feeling

Thank you everyone, I am still on cloud 9 but a bit embarrassed to admit I'm shitting myself about driving on my own now!

But I am so glad I did this. I just decided this year that I wouldn't give up once I started and I am so happy I didn't give up after the first few fails. It would have been so easy to give up and pretend I wasn't bothered and it was so embarrassing failing each time but I had to just keep thinking I've failed a few times, it's not a big deal and I used those fails as ways to improve the parts that I failed on.

I was worried about driving on my own but I prefer it. I can concentrate on driving with no one to distract me, if it's busy I drive along pointing out things to pay attention to ie speed limit, green light, roundabout coming up

Congratulations OP on passing your test

I have been considering taking lessons for some time now but haven't plucked up the courage to do it but it's good to see even those that fail the first few times managed to pass later on

🎉 Congratulations! Don’t waste it, go get a little run around and get going. The world is your oyster.
Btw, I passed 7th time, and I’m a cracking driver.

I shit myself for weeks when I got my first car. Plan little drives at first. Do them often. I also took a couple of motorway lessons.

areyoubeingserviced · 11/10/2018 17:55

Well done Op
Passing my test was honestly one of the happiest days of my life

MunkeeBum · 11/10/2018 21:19

Thanks everyone. Got my car today and just finished insuring it so I'm off tomorrow (with DP in the car for the next day or two lol) to learn more of our area and routes I'll be doing often enough.
