What’s your approx budget?!

SpinningBob · 10/10/2018 21:50

I like giving the nice LSA wine glasses, look lovely and very practical, with a bottle of wine, or a nice bunch of flowers, with a lovely vase. I like practical gifts!

We are moving soon. I really cant envisage getting gifts, as we have owned a home for 10 years rather than starting out. However things I would use/appreciate....

A bottle of spirit / a quirky mixer / bar tools, as we plan on having a little bar area.
A voucher for IKEA.
A pretty little dish that can sit by the door for keys/change.
A nice throw or blanket.
A plant or candle.
A nice salt and pepper set.
Anything Le Crueset.

All my adult DCs got lovely blankets for the back of the sofa. Which they all loved and still have.
Siblings, other family, usually something for the garden.

I second a comfy blanket/ throw for the living room. Maybe one of the teddy bear soft ones

we usually give vouchers on the basis that there'll be lots of 'things' the new homeowners need. Tend to be to practical places like B&Q, but would depend on the people.

Some cousins brought a house with an amazing garden which they wanted to do loads to, so we got them garden centre vouchers.

Especially this time of year, a few unusual or fancy spring flowering bulbs that can be thrown under a bit of soil or into a pot.

BackforGood · 10/10/2018 23:14

Think it depends on the 'stage of life' of the recipient.

what I've bought for my nieces and nephews and dc moving into their first homes (after university) is very different from what I would get someone in their 50s or 60s or 70s or 80s.

You need to give us more clues Grin

What spinning bob said a nice vase and bouquet of flowers 💐 or/and a John Lewis voucher depending on your budget.

SerenDippyEggs · 10/10/2018 23:19

A big fat nice smelling candle and a bottle of fizz!

beeefcake · 10/10/2018 23:52

I did my friends a hamper of cleaning products, snacks, Prosecco, a nice candle and a few other bits. It didn't cost much and was gratefully received.

Sweetheart · 11/10/2018 09:06

So budget wise approx £30-£40. It's for my sibling who is nearly 50 and just buying their 1st place so it's a really big deal for them. I got quite a bit for my other sibling when they moved into their 1st place so I think there is deffo an expectation that I need to meet.

I wouldn't go for flowers, people bought them for me and whilst lovely, they had died before I had the house sorted so could never look "nice" in a room if you see what I mean?
