Childcare Tax Credits fees and taxi home costs for Ofsted babysitter? Please help

I have a new regular evening Ofsted registered childminder who is going to do two evenings per month at my house.

She has requested a rebate of her taxi home, and it is listed on her invoice separately as well as the childcare costs, is this something I can include in my Tax Credits childcare costs claim amount?

I'm not sure if it should be included in the fees I work out for Tax Credits and I can legitimately claim for it as part of her invoice or not?

Thanks

Asking you to cover her transport seems a bit cheeky to me.

Aprilislonggone · 09/10/2018 15:35

Surely she would have travel as an expense her side?

That isn’t childminding. It should be in her home with all the relevant insurances.

ah is it not legal for her to do it in my house and claim costs back Georgie? She is an Ofsted registered childminder and all registration details are provided on the invoice.

Odd. Childminding does not take place in parents home.

Babysitting is outwith childcare regs.

I suppose doing it this way means you are using a registered provider for tax credits purposes? Bit of a head scratcher if I'm honest.

Ah ok I get it now.

I must have been mistaken - I assumed that I could claim a partial rebate on tax credits for it provided it was an Ofsted Registered childcare provider, I haven't yet made a claim via Tax Credits and will check with them directly. I didn't realise it had to be outside of my home.

I'm not out to bend the rules or do anything dodgy so will not claim anything unless I am sure that everything is above board.

It doesn't sound as though the arrangement will work on an ongoing basis. Thank you all :)
