Why is no one viewing my eBay listing? HELP!

I'm quite new to selling things on eBay. I've sold a couple of things and had no trouble but I'm trying to sell a French connection dress. It's been on for days and only been viewed 3 times. Where am I going wrong?

Happy to link the listing but unsure if that's allowed?

Thanks.

If it's on for a 7 day listing I wouldn't worry - if I'm looking for something that will be an auction listing as opposed to buy it now, I sort by "ending soonest" and wouldn't really bother looking at the ones that had more than a day or two left.

ToastyFingers · 09/10/2018 12:56

You can pm me a link if you like. I've sold plenty of things on eBay and usually get good results.

Dodie66 · 09/10/2018 12:58

I had an item that had no views at all recently and dint sell. I find I get bids near the end of the auctions so you might get bids yet.

Is it an auction or Buy It Now?

I've had practically no sales recently even though I used to. This time of year is usually quite busy but it seems very slow atm.

What are the first words of your ad?

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 09/10/2018 13:21

From personal experience, clothes can be tricky to sell at the best of times - I've sold quite a few, but they always generate less interest than other things I've listed. Things like whether the dress is the right season for the time of year, whether you have the size in the listing title, and whether you've priced realistically will all have an impact too.

purplecorkheart · 09/10/2018 13:21

Double check there are no spelling mistakes in the title

Andtheresaw · 09/10/2018 13:24

what size and colour is it? I'll see if I can find it as if I was actually looking for a dress in that size IYSWIM.

SongsFromTheWar · 09/10/2018 13:28

The title is Size 10 French Connection Dress.

It's used.

Price is £7.50

It's monochrome but I've listed it as black.

It's got an exposed zip on the back.

The picture I've used has come from the French connection website. It's not a picture I've taken at home.

I wouldn't trust photos from the website. I would want to see the actual item.

Maybe put something positive in the title like "Great condition dress from French connection, size ....

iklboo · 09/10/2018 13:43

The picture might be an issue. You're not showing the actual dress so people can't see its true condition (which I'm sure is absolutely fine but some buyers would prefer to see what they're bidding on).

Andtheresaw · 09/10/2018 14:06

Well if I search for used French Connection black dresses in size 10, then sort in order of price incl P+P, yours is on page 4.
That's 3 and a bit pages of black dresses in my size before I get to yours. And then I see that you are charging more postage than anyone else (except the heavy beaded dresses) and you haven't taken any pictures of your own dress.
Your listing doesn't say what it is made of, how long it is or anything.
It does look very mini on the model (2nd picture) but as it is a short shot who can tell?
You need more descriptive terms in the heading so that buyers looking for that type of dress can find it.
You need some info in the description so people know what they are getting.
You need some photos.
You need to drop £1 off the postage.
Good luck!

Aprilislonggone · 09/10/2018 14:09

French Connection needs to be your initial wording. When searching for items buyers can select certain brands /designers. Other words won't have an option.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2018 14:22

I would think a website photo may be a Scam.

Killingthebodyguard · 09/10/2018 14:45

I'd never bid on clothes without a photo of the actual item. I'd be too worried it was either a scam or they were hiding a stain or tear etc.

tectonicplates · 09/10/2018 14:51

I always give loads of measurements, true photos (alongside stock photos) and sell everything with free postage.

I still haven't sold anything for over a month. I feel like nobody's interested any more. This time last year I was selling two or three items per month.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 09/10/2018 14:52

Agree with pps - out a photo of your actual dress on as the main picture, then make the website stock photo an additional one in the gallery. Otherwise it looks like a scam. I never click on these, I expect I'll either be sold a dodgy second or a knock-off copy.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/10/2018 14:52

I agree , I never bid on things that only have a stock photo. A stock photo generally puts me off as I wonder what they are hiding.

tectonicplates · 09/10/2018 15:06

It does look very mini on the model (2nd picture) but as it is a short shot who can tell?

Speaking as a short person, I HATE descriptions like knee-length, calf-length etc. It means nothing to me. Even telling me the height of the model is no good. Just get a tape measure and tell us the actual length!
