DD woke up with pain in legs

This morning DD woke with pain in her legs, when she tried to get out of bed, she fell and hit her head on the wall.
I heard the bang so went to ask if she was ok, she said she felt dizzy and that her legs hurt, that's why she fell.

Once she was sat down she was fine, didn't complain of any pains or aches, went toilet fine. She was happily watching her tablet while having breakfast all seems well.

We set off for school and immediately she was complaining of leg pain, pain behind the knee and pain around her ankle on the other leg. She then starts hobbling all the way to school and says it really hurts.

Anyway, I'm thinking this is growing pains but google says they don't occur in mornings, so is this cramping? She has had pain behind her knee before but it usually only occurs in one leg, not both, and it certainly never made her limp.

I've literally been worried sick all morning and I'm not sure if I'm just overreacting. School haven't rang me so I'm assuming she's walking about fine and probably isn't in pain now.

Just looking for some reassurance really sorry for the long post.

My dd1 used to complain of leg pain just like this in primary school, they were growing pains and very painful to her. I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine. If you are at all worried, why don't you call and check she's ok, the school won't mind at all. I hope she's feeling better Smile

Sounds like cramp. Tonic water prevents cramp.

Thank you. I really appreciate the replies. It's put my mind at ease.

I think I know it's just a form of growing pains and she does normally get them at bed time, but I think I was worried that she was limping on it like it was weak. I reckon she'll be back to normal come the end of school.
I won't ring in (I feel like I might sound neurotic) but I'll see how she is when I pick her up.

Just wanted to quickly update.

So she came out of school, still hobbling, still in pain. She couldn't run, couldn't jump without being in pain. Our GP was so good, got us in at 4pm, two doctors thoroughly checked her over and it turns out she may have a virus which is causing the achy pains. She had a bout of diarrhoea last night and I just didn't put the two together.

Panic over Smile
