Hate having builders in the house

We're having building work done in the kitchen. I am losing the will to live. The mess. The noise. The constant people in and out of the house. I work from home and am trying to get on with it while people bang and crash. DH leaves before they arrive and they've gone by the time he's home so he doesn't see the issue.

And there's a leak in the ceiling.

pacer142 where do you live?! Please let it be near me!

When the work was all finished, it was totally worth doing but there was just so much work needing to be done and we had to live in the middle of it. The builders were great, but the kitchen fitter was a total pita and I couldn't wait for him to finish.

We had a great decorator Smile who we've used several times before.

Swore I'd never go through all that again after the last house we had that needed major restructuring works when the DC were very young.

This time, we had a neighbour who took against the builders and building works and decided to complain about everything and make things very difficult and unpleasant for everyone despite us doing everything we could to minimise inconvenience to anyone else and keeping everyone informed and cleaning up properly. Never again, though. If we move again I want a house that needs nothing doing to it Smile

Builder saying that he can't do anything about the water coming in through the roof until it stops raining, which is fair enough. It's been pouring for days, the roof is sopping and how's he supposed to work out where the leak is.

We've had a real problem getting people to do work on the house. I've spoken to about 8 heating engineers about moving the boiler over the last week and some of them are booked up until Christmas. And i'd really rather not go with some randomer off the internet.

We're usually really flexible but the kitchen fitting date is set in stone - other work just has to be finished by then. Then once the kitchen is in I'll have to organise flooring, and getting splashbacks, and snagging.

Plus the other night the bathroom sprung a leak too, so that will need replaced in the New Year.

It's never ending. And now they're drilling and banging and doing goodness knows what and my concentration levels are zero.
