Environmentally friendly hat?

I've always been conscious of how my actions and purchases affect the environment. Now though things have really ramped up and every purchase is fraught with guilt and indecision.
What a selfish bastard I am buying a yoghurt!
Anyway, I digress, I need a thin soft hat that covers my ears. I have had primark acrylic ones in the past, but now can't overlook the environmental cost.
Any ideas?

Natural fibres! I have a wonderful very thin recycled cashmere one from Turtle Doves. (www.turtle-doves.co.uk/collections/cashmere-hats)

Those cashmere ones are very plain looking for the money.
Is cashmere ok? I have been reading a lot of horrific stuff about sheep's bottoms- are the goats treated any better?

You could buy a second hand one in the style/material you like.

Turtle Doves ones are all made of up-cycled cashmere to reduce environmental impact, which is why I personally like them. H&M and COS have them new, their sustainability policies are available on their website.

I think anything made out of natural fibres will be better than acrylic, but reusing or up-cycling existing natural fibres is even better!

Why not knit one? Or get someone to knit one for you. If you don’t want to buy yarn, repurpose a hand knitted garment or get something from a charity shop to unravel and redo.

If you want a thin one, 3 or 4 ply yarn should do.

There must be an easier way to get a non environmentally damaging hat than spending £30+, knitting my own or searching high and low for a used one that I like!

Ethical also means everyone in the process is paid fairly so that will bump the price up.
Knitting isn't tricky though crochet is easier and faster especially for hats.
