What’s your go-to work lunch?

I’m sick to death of sandwiches for lunch when I’m out of the house but am completely lacking in inspiration as to what to replace them with. My issue is I don’t have access to either a fridge or microwave between leaving the house and eating so it’s got to be something that keeps fresh and can be eaten cold - and isn’t another bloody sandwich! If you’re in a similar position, what’s your go-to lunch?

I’ve considered getting a thermos for things like soup but am doubtful as to whether they actually keep things warm - does anyone use one and would recommend?

I think a good quality flask would keep soup warm.

I often take a serving of greek yogurt with muesli on top and some berries. It's better slightly warm out of the fridge and is filling. Or I will take cheese and crackers, again doesn't hurt being kept out of the fridge. I don't eat bread so it's a bit limiting.

Do you have access to a kettle?

Get a cool bag and you can make nice salads? Mozzarella, tomato & avocado; or cous cous with chickpeas and veg?

My go to was a piece of smoked fish (eg a fillet of smoked/peppered mackerel) plus a tub of couscous.

I do flask and soup. It’s not piping hot but definitely warm enough to need blowing on.

I do a version of this, not always couscous - sometimes pearl barley or quinoa - and swap up the vegetables in it, it's pretty forgiving.

If you have access to a kettle you can do homemade noodle pots. I do these for lunches a few times a week to mix it up and love them! Loads of ideas if you Google but I do mine with miso paste and rice noodles plus whatever veg is in fridge chopped small. Come lunchtime I just fill the mug with boiling water, put the lid on for 5 mins, stir and then enjoy. Delicious!

Some great suggestions, thanks! Cous cous salads are definitely something I’ll give a go and I’ll invest in a thermos - any suggestions of where to get a good one?

Sadly no access to a kettle but those noodles sound fab
