How to remove dried emulsion paint from clothing?

It’s an exterior paint emulsion.

I’ve googled it and most responses start with ‘it’s easier if the paint is still wet wet...’. Unfortunately I didn’t notice it until I got to work and it had dried.

I’ve tried wetting it down but I have no ‘rubbing alcohol’ (whatever that is). Any ideas please?

Bin and replace. Its the only way.

Oh dear. It’s on the trousers of a relatively new suit 😐

Wiggle it! Seriously, move the dry,not wet, material about carefully between thumb and fore finger, section by section,to make the paint flake off,it's probably just sitting as a coating on the fabric and not dyed in.I wiggled the seat of my best black trousers,(yes, not ideal near wet paint!) and it took time and came off easily.Ditto cardigan sleeve.I get impatient waiting for paint to dry,so have experience.
Best of luck.

As per Mabel. There's no magic bullet, that stuff is designed to be solid for years. If you can agitate it out manually (and want to put in the literal hours of effort) go for it, otherwise bin and replace.

I think, think mind you, that the equivalent of rubbing alcohol is surgical spirit.

Depending on the colour of the item, a nylon pan scrubber (flat, new & clean) works abrasively, ideally after soaking the fabric. After scrubbing, wash it.

I've done this, yellow emulsion on black cardi. Agitation seems to be working, but slowly. May try nail polish remover.

Don't bin! Very wasteful.

Even if they're no good for work any more, surely they're good enough for house/garden/supermarket/school run/dog walking/pub/whatever?

If it's exterior emulsion then I don't think anything removes it, dh's overalls have been washed multiple times and it's well stuck!
You could try Stain Devils paint remover, I hope it works for you.

Thank you for your responses.

Unfortunately I had soaked it before I read the 'wiggle it off' replies.

I rubbed it with about half a pack of alcohol based anti-bacterial wipes I found in the cupboard (did fade slightly), soaked in a general purpose stain devil (no difference), doused it with vanish and put through a 60 degree wash. Faded but still noticeable.

Suspect surgical spirit may have worked but suspect I have gone beyond that now...
