Do our husbands age better than we do?

This is a thread inspired by another thread! About whether you would still fancy your other half if you met them now.

A number of posters on there (mostly women I'm assuming) have said that there husbands have gained a bit of weight over the years/look more haggard etc but that they essentially look worse - why is that? Do most of us women feel that we age more than our husbands?

I know I feel like that and I'm only late 20s, DH is mid-30s. I feel like he looks better the older he gets and I look worse.

Is it because we have more to do with the children, obviously carrying them/giving birth/more responsibility day to day? Do we look after ourselves less than they do? Do they make more time to exercise?

Where am I going wrong? Grin

@Storm4star

I think that actually women are hyper critical of themselves and "think" they have aged worse than the men in their lives.

Exactly! Women are warned of the horrors of ageing since around about the age of 17, and therefore notice every wrinkle and sag. Men, by contrast, are lulled into thinking they age 'like fine wine' even though sadly, most of them age like milk.

Men mature slower than women. Women generally look at their best around 22. Men look their best around 30. They have an advantage.

Men mature slower than women.

By the time you're a man or a woman, you're already mature, so what you are saying makes no sense.

Well, women live significantly longer, so I'm going to say we age better in that very important sense...

In the 13 years I’ve known him, my husband hasn’t actually aged at all! But then neither of I. We’ve been blessed to have parents with really great skin that have passed the gene down to us I think!

DH is 50 and almost as slim as he was when I met him at 27, I think his trousers size is two inches bigger. He has lost some hair but has it cut well, only a few lines.

I'm one dress size bigger so a size 10 and have lots of silver in my hair but almost unlined. People say we both look younger than we are. Mainly genetics, varied decent quality food , we are not teetotal but don't drink much.
