Anyone got a Joie 360 spin???

I need help before I chuck the whole bloody thing in the bin. Stupidly bought the car seat from John Lewis who neglected to tell me that they no longer fit the sodding things as they 'aren't allowed to leave the store'. Great. And Halfords won't install it unless you bought it from them. And neither will anyone else

Trying to put it in this morning. Ignored adaptors as no mention of them in the manual. Put seat in, seemed very wobbly. Check manual again. No info on adaptors. Decide they must be important, look at side of seat. Looks like you need to slide them into the isofix bit on the car, but will they fucking fit? Will they fuck. And can I find a number/human to speak to for support? Can I fuck.

Does anyone know if the adaptors are crucial? And if they aren't, why is it so wobbly and how can I make it tighter? ARGHHHHHHHHH. I knew it would be this bloody stressful so have been putting it off.

Hopeful bump? Before I give up on life completely...

I have one, I don't use the adaptors as my understanding was that they're there to make lining up the isofix easier to click it in. Best way to stop the wiggle left and right is to make sure the seat is fully upright and rear facing, then push the base as far as you can towards the seat, so it sits as tight as possible to it. Then adjust the leg so you're on the last 'green' section.

Go on youtube and search joie 360 spin installation. I think you mean the isofix guides? No they are just to help so long as both the indicators are green it’s in.

Thanks both. I watched the video and consulted the instruction manual several times, but obviously they make it look and sound like a walk in the park on a summer's day. Ironically I feel like I've just run a marathon in a heatwave, what with all pushing and shoving and heaving the sodding thing.

All the bits that should be green are green. Asked a friend who said the adaptors weren't necessary. So have ignored them once again.

I don't understand why the leg bit is green though, as it seems to be green in several different positions...

I'll try the rear facing and pushing it back as suggested, however the instruction manual shows it being fitted forward facing?

Also, there seems to be a massive gap between the isofix and the seat of the car... attached pic. That can't be right can it???

Oh except I can't post a bloody picture can I, because I had to set up a new account as I forgot the log in for my old one. Today is not my day Angry

This might be very cheeky but safety first and all...I'd go to Halfords and ask them to try one in your car to see if it fits. You will then get to watch the person install it in your car and know exactly how it should fit or if indeed it doesn't fit in your car.

whycantidothisforflipssake · 07/10/2018 12:26

I've thought of this. I called up and the utterly useless person on the end of the phone said it would fit into my car and I would have to buy one before it could be fitted 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Perhaps I should just turn up, and see if they take pity on me, but I've now taken the old isofix out that was put in by my equally useless ex partner and I do not have the strength nor the presence of mind to try and get that one back in... and I don't want to drive with the loosely installed one as it will be Sod's law that that will be the one time someone decides to drive into me. Plus obviously would give the game away if I had the half arsedly installed car seat in the car anyway.

Honestly, why is this so difficult? What am I doing wrong? Is it just my luck that absolutely nothing goes my way?

Can you go to a Mothercare store with the car fitting service signs and ask them to take a look? I have a Joie car seat, although it's a different model, and got confused with it so went into store. They were very thorough and good. They also didn't ask to see a receipt of purchase so you could always make out you did buy it from them!

VillageCats · 07/10/2018 12:34

How old is the child? Can you pop them on a booster for the trip there as a one off? I'd return the JL one and just go to Halfords and have them fit one for you. Sorry it's all so hard. 💐

loopylou1984 · 07/10/2018 12:39

We have the spin. It is quite wobbly unless (like posted above) you have it pushed back as far as you can. We are RF so haven't tried it in the FF position yet.

From what I understand a little bit of wobble is ok. You can email Joie to ask. I messaged them for advice on our first install.

There is also a really good Facebook group called CSFTL UK who will be able to help with install and fit questions as long as you provide photos/videos/descriptions.

I am going to try mothercare. If all else fails I will just cry at them, which to be honest, won't be that hard to do after the morning I've had.

Village, she's 11 months so really doesn't need to be out of the maxi Cosi yet, but I thought I would buy the next stage seat before all my money gets eaten by childcare fees and put it in now as I've got someone coming to buy the old seat next weekend (no it's not been in any accidents!). And I did actually think I should just return the JL one and get one from Halfords and get it properly, but when I prematurely celebrated having put the seat in before giving it the 'wobble' test, I went and cut the flipping tags off, so now I can't.

Argh just argh.

LBOCS2 · 07/10/2018 13:39

Could you just pop the maxi cosi in the car with her in it, belted in, and drive to a Halfords to ask them to help you with the Joie?

whycantidothisforflipssake · 07/10/2018 13:59

lB0CS2 I am going to do exactly that, except try the John Lewis I got it from first. There is a mothercare in the same shopping centre so if they don't help I am going to try there. And then, if that doesn't work either, the Halfords is my last port of call before I give up. Seriously cannot believe nowhere seems to fit car seats anywhere in London, unless of course you bought the bloody thing from them in the first place, with all the emphasis on sodding safety etc that is rammed down our throats all the sodding time, and makes me feel like unless someone else does it, I am most certainly putting my baby in a death trap.

Sorry for the melodrama, I have had an utterly shit year, and being defeated by a bloody car seat is literally the last straw!!

I believe the wobble is fine, it's just the links in the isofix. It doesn't need to be pushed right in to the back of the seat, as long as all the bits are green.

Acorncat · 07/10/2018 14:11

Also, check out the good egg safety car people (or something like that), they travel around and check car seats in different places.

MumOfOnee · 07/10/2018 14:16

I went to mothercare and tested a few out, a lovely member of staff spent ages showing me how to fit and testing dd out in each one... I was honest from the beginning saying we weren't ready to buy and just wanted to get an idea.
If you've got one close by they may be able to help?

pduerden · 26/04/2019 12:49

Just been told it is a common problem that the Joie 360 get stuck in cars. I tried to contact Joie but as it was the weekend they do not offer support so had to use a hammer to remove it from my sister in-laws car. Customer service told me they could have resolved this if I had contacted them first 😂

I know this is an old post but for anyone looking for the same about the movement with the Joie Isize 360 Spin, this movement is meant to be there. Please see a video by Joie themselves m.youtube.com/watch?v=vtXzehjYJR4
