Anybody else living with an elderly adorable pita cat?

My boy, 'P' we'll call him, is about 12 now & omg is he a pain in the arse but so lovable with it. He's started shouting his head off now, he never used to. He comes in the cat flap 'MEOW, MEOW, MEOW, MEOW, MEOW'. He doesn't stop until you sit down so he can have your warm lap. He shouts his head off at bedtime if I'm not upstairs by about 8pm Hmm When I do go up and read MN in bed he plants his large self in the micro-gap between my tum & the laptop. He's become a demon mouser out of nowhere - dead entrails frequently found in the kitchen & he enjoys the odd puke here & there for almost non-existent hairballs. Oh and I forgot to mention he wakes me up shouting in the middle of the night and sleeps on my head if he can get away with it He also gives me a stern talking-to if I have a bath because he's convinced I'm a nutter and I'll drown.. He's had a full mot at the vets & they say he's all fine, these are just the quirks of his old age. Anyone else got a dearly beloved cat that drives them batty?

Could almost have written your OP myself.

I've got a cat who yells at the top of her lungs if I'm not upstairs for bed, if she's hungry, if she's alone and if she feels like it!

She has an electric heated bed for night which does stop most of the middle of the night shouting..

Mine is obsessed with the tap despite having a cat water fountain. Constant crying till you turn tap on then you have to get up and turn it off when she's done then she wants it back on......driving us mad!

Lost my 19 year old boy 2 months ago and miss him so much. The house is so quiet without his constant miaowing for no reason, I'd give anything to have him tripping me up winding round my legs and to hear his miaow once more. Treasure your fur baby's.

Sounds like my old biddy cat! She's about 15 and a total pita... She's currently miaow ing about the rain and waiting expectantly for me to switch it off!
She drinks out of any and every glass placed on the table, changes her mind about favourite foods like every day, tells us off if we go out, is scared of the front door Hmm
She used to be so independent, but since boycat died she needs us much more... Lucky she is the light of our lives!

Memories....Cat2 who left us at 18 was like this.
Retired from mousing but used to yowl round the house every night. DM aimed a shoe down the landing at her more than once.
Used to have her claws trimmed at the vet every three months, cue much hissing and swiping.
Sat in your seat if you stood up. Farted a SBD if you tried to move her.
I still miss her five years later.

@PennyForum6 if your little darling has suddenly developed a taste for mice, might be worth getting him tested for thyroid function. Overactive thyroid is quite common in older cats. I had a golden oldie for a little while as I took in one who'd been living rough. He wax about 19 and he was a complete pita but adorable.

Mine is 15. She has always been very high maintenance but is now super needy. She poos for Britain and sprays cat litter everywhere. If she is near me she has to try and get as close to me as possible, she has got massive attachment issues. She moults horribly and only eats posh pouches. I'll miss her terribly when she goes but I'm not replacing her!!

The above was my 15 year old cat's contribution to the conversation. He did this because you can't hear him shrieking his darned fool head off. That said, I know that there will come a time when I would give anything to hear him shriek just once again...

Throwing in a recommendation - if your cat needs weight gain or struggles chewing, even my mega fussy (beef makes him vomit, won't eat anything not grain free, likes some food only one day a month where the moon is waning etc) cat eats it
It's meant for weaning but high cal slop Grin and he declared it "delicious an I don't have to chew"

I have an adorable PITA 6 year old. She wakes me several times a night to make biscuits on me.

Has he had his thyroid checked op? My darling old cat became increadably vocal and her prey drive went through the roof. She had an over active thyroid. (And dementia, and was deaf.) Unfortunately the prey she wanted to attack most was newborn ds, and combined with the distress monthly bloodtests to keep on top of her meds caused her, I had her pts. My heart is still in pieces.

Dcat is 17 and has always been extremely noisy, as an Asian cross sort of expect it. DD adores her (& says she's only a teenager, we dread the day the cat departs to the great hunting ground) and the feeling is mutual.

I use to and I still miss him years later. I have young cats now but they haven't had time to fully develop into total PITAs yet.

DisrespectfulCat is insisting on going from the ottoman where his water bowl is to the side table in front of me to my laptop (which is on my lap) to the sofa next to me to the ottoman.

This is his sixth non-stop round.
