If your teenager wears contact lenses - where did you go to trial them?

Just that. My 13 year old plays a lot of sport and it would be useful for her to be able to wear disposables every so often. We went somewhere in the summer for her to have a go but she couldn't do it - and the woman showing her was not very patient. DD's a bit of an anxious type when being observed so if there is an opticians that's known for handling young people better, I'd rather taker her there. I realise it might differ from branch to branch but would still love to hear of other's experiences.

we went to local specsavers, dd had to go back twice as she found it tricky and is easily flustered but they were very understanding and patient. I would give them a call before hand and make sure they give you their most patient and warm member of staff, they know who that is!

My son started wearing lenses in y7.

He goes to Specsavers. They were very patient, but we had practised beforehand at home with my surplus disposables, so he found it easy.

DD is 13 abd has contact lenses. We went to Specsavers as that’s where I get mine from. They were patient with her and also good at having several appointments to find the right ones for her.

Thanks. We'll try Specsavers and I will mention her anxiousness when I make the appointment. Are they easy to order from Specsavers if you get the go ahead?

My DD couldn't get the hang of it back in Feb despite a very patient Specsavers staff. We went back in June and tried again and got another very patient lady helping and she got it straight away. Sometimes kids just need another attempt after they have thought about it for a while.

We did Specsavers and found the staff to be patient, the first appointment was disheartening and I doubted that dd was going to manage as the staff could barely get them in without reflexively pushing them away. She practised touching her eyeball (with a clean finger) without blinking every day until the second appointment which went much better.

I think we had 3 appointments until dd was allowed to take a pair of lenses home to practise before the final appointment to check everything was ok/sign up for the monthly scheme.

We had settled on monthly disposables due to cost/dd wearing them at least 5 days per week. We then wanted some daily disposables to take on holiday which wasn’t just a case of ordering the same prescription but in daillies, the optician wanted to check them for fit so we had to make an appointment to do that.
