What's the worst than can happen?

Ok, had cause to ring my car insurance company to inform them of an accident even though I wasn't intending to claim. Someone must have bumped into me whilst I've been parked and caused a couple of hundred pounds of damage. As my excess is £350 it wouldn't have been worth me claiming.

Anyway I still had to go over a few questions with them, one of them being had I had any motoring convictions/ speeding fines over the last 5 years? I answered truthfully yes, a speeding fine in July 2017. To which they replied I had never informed them. Which is true. I absolutely and genuinely forgot, I've got a million and one things going on in my life and it went completely out of my head. Not only that when it came to renewal I had just ticked my circumstances hadn't changed, therefore telling a lie. Again, it genuinely never even crossed my mind.

I know this is absolutely my fault and I have no excuse. Have received a letter from them this morning asking for a print out of my licence and reasons why I didn't inform them. I have none and don't intend to lie about it. They have stated until they receive a response they are " unable to consider any claim under the terms of the insurance policy". Does this mean if I go out in my car now I'm not insured. Their offices aren't open at the weekend for me to clarify.

What is going to happen? Will they ask for a whole load of back payment? Even if I had told them when it happened does a 3 point penalty up your premium by a lot?

I'm so mad with myself. I'm usually truthful to the nth degree.

No, I would take it as you just can't claim. If they had cancelled your policy they would be very specific about that.

This is why you do the course, as that doesn't get held against you with insurance, and costs the same as the fine. Theres a few people on mumsnet working in insurance so theyll be able to better advise. it doesnt look good. How do get forget points?

I honestly don't know how I forgot Count.
It was just one of those really stupid moments when I got my renewal email and didn't read it properly. Absolutely my fault.
