What is a good treat for colleagues when people are always on diets?

I'd like to take in some treats at work for my team (2 key stages in a primary school) but whenever I take in chocolate or cakes there are so many people who don't have one because they're watching their sugar intake or they're on a diet, which I totally respect. What can I take in that everyone will like and won't break the bank? Ideally I wouldn't spend more than about £25. It's for about 20 people.

We always like candy floss grapes, but that seems a lot less extravagant than your budget!

KurriKurri · 05/10/2018 19:58

This company do low cal cakes and biscuits (prices vary) but their stuff looks quite nice
skinny bakery
They alos have recipes on thier website if youwant to make your own.

Or if you want to steer clear of cakes, maybe make some little fruit kebabs, with strawberries, grapes, chunks of melon or pineapple etc.

Strawbs and cream, pineapple. If you have a freezer, ice lollies like soleros?

Really nice teabags or coffee powder?

There isn't something treaty that everyone will eat - the high protein/low sugar people will be at odds with the low calorie ones.

TheSpottedZebra · 05/10/2018 20:05

Or just go to Lidl and buy stollen, nope the dieters are all 'being good' that day, and oink the lot yourself?

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 05/10/2018 20:06

I recently took a big tub of homemade fruit salad into work; apples, banana, pears and grapes in pure orange juice. I took in cardboard cups for people to eat it from. I was surprised by how well it went down!

AliceRR · 05/10/2018 20:10

Fresh fruit

Nuts and dried fruit

Crackers and cheeses

I have a colleague who is on a very strict diet during the week. I wanted to get her a mid-week treat (think it was last Christmas time) so got her raffle tickets that they were selling at work. It seemed to work well. Not the same as taking stuff in for a few people though...

AliceRR · 05/10/2018 20:11

Or if you are taking sweet treats (I do find many people even on diets will eat free treats at work if they’re there) take something that will last for at least a few days eg wrapped cakes, chocolates and sweets rather than a fresh cake that would only last a couple of days

Lwmommy · 05/10/2018 20:14

Out of desperation a few months ago, because i just needed something different to the standard treat stuff at work, i took in several packets of angel delight, a big bottle of milk, a jug, whisk and some plastic glasses. MAde up loads in 10 mins before my shift started and chucked the in the fridge.

They went down surprisingly well and are pretty low calorie. The little pots of jelly go well too, especially if you bring a can of squirty cream.

OMG skinny bakery online yesssss heart eyes

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 05/10/2018 20:35

mini tray bakes

MrsJBaptiste · 05/10/2018 20:56

I love the idea of Angel Delight in the office! Im definitely putting my name down for that for our next office buffet 👍

KurriKurri · 05/10/2018 21:13

Regarding angel delight - you can buy it ready made in little yogurt sized pots, which might be easier than taking milk etc.
Also if you went fro jelly, you can get jelly pots in the supermarket that are only 10cals - they come in a range of flavours, and in Tesco they are usually in a bogof type offer. I think they are either Hartleys or Chivers.

PoptartPoptart · 05/10/2018 21:42

Skinny popcorn
Fruit selection

specialsubject · 05/10/2018 21:48

Fruit. Or chocolates and people have some self control.and eat one.

The fuss made over cake (ooh I shouldn't it's naughty) in a nation obsessed with the great British fat-off is nauseating.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 06/10/2018 06:38

These are brilliant ideas, thanks everyone!

Home made legume dips and crudités ?
Dark chocolate pearls?
Raspberry jellies?

Fatted · 06/10/2018 06:48

Frankly don't bother. Not every one wants 'treats'.

I pretend I'm on a diet sometimes because I don't want to eat some manky looking cake Sandra from the office next door made as a 'treat' for everyone!

GoPack · 06/10/2018 06:52

Cans of sugar free drinks or some sparkling waters and flavours.

AliceRR · 06/10/2018 12:12

@Fatted 🤣 I’m so no into homemade stuff that people bring in and anything which is liable to be mauled by everyone before I eat it.

If I take treats into work, I do try to get individually wrapped items

MaudesMum · 06/10/2018 12:37

From the perspective of someone who, not entirely coincidentally, has lost a chunk of weight since I started working from home, it really is very difficult to stick with any eating plan when people bring in homemade food. Not only does it expose you to temptation which you can otherwise avoid, but some people take it personally when you don't eat the food they have made, and there are always the "oh go on, just have one" comments. Sorry, but if I was going to have one little treat, it would probably be a gin and tonic rather than your cakes... How about providing a box of herbal/fruit teas together with any cakes, and doing absolutely nothing at all to coerce anyone to eat anything?

Fluffyears · 06/10/2018 18:59

We used to have a biscuit and chocolate pusher. ‘Eat then I hate to see things wasted’ well don’t fucking bring them in then! Two of us were doing slimming world so she bought a big bag of raisins for us Confusedraisins are high in sugar and not a slimming world friendly items. I got a lecture for not eating then....I hate raisins anyway but ‘she’d brought them in for me!’ I never asked for them and they are a good I don’t like, I didn’t want and were unsuitable for my diet.

JennyHolzersGhost · 06/10/2018 19:12

Something non-food ? I’m another one who doesn’t like office food ‘treats’.
