The Broons...I always fancied Joe Broon!

The Broons.

Oor Wullie was always a bit of a poor substitute.

Who remembers the one where Hen Broon poured the leftover porridge into a drawer to set. Later on, they sliced it up and one of them cracked a tooth on a toy car which had been left in the drawer. Always fancied trying that...

The Broons, my Uncle looked liked Hen Broon.

Oor Wullie, especially when he was getting up to no good with his pals. Reminds me of going to my Granny's every Sunday to get a cup of tea and read the Sunday Post.

I remember the porridge in a drawer. And the french polisher. Grin

Anyone remember the one where they were trying to impress the posh visitor and the kids all had to sit in their particular place in the room and not move, so that they could hide the hole in the sofa/threadbare carpet/crack in the plaster etc?

cloudyweewee · 05/10/2018 20:55

The Broons by a narrow margin! My dad was born in Scotland and lived there for most of his childhood. He used to treat us to the annuals and I still buy them now (I'm 51).

Loved the Broons, much more that oor Wullie.

I don't know why but I clearly remember the porridge in the drawer one too Grin

The Broons ... I even have some merch! Teatowel, wooden spoon etc ... Grin

We dressed us as the Broons for our local gala day a few years ago. I had to be grandpa as I still had chicken pox plooks all over my face. (I was definitely not still infectious before anyone jumps on me) My cotton wool beard was a thing of wonder Grin

so that they could hide the hole in the sofa/threadbare carpet/crack in the plaster etc? Yes!! I seem to remember Hen having to stand with his arm on the ceiling?

I spent quite a lot of time reading my dad's old annuals when I was younger Grin
