delivery drivers entering your house when you're not in

Waitrose are going to trial a scheme where delivery drivers will have access to your house whilst you're out and will put your shopping away for you.
They say they will be wearing bodycams etc. but surely there are very very few people who would want this service?
Or am i just untrusting?!

I’d go for that! How lovely to come home to my shopping delivered and put away.

WutheringFrights · 05/10/2018 07:42

If they could cook the dinner and clean up after that would be great....

tenlittledinosaurss · 05/10/2018 07:43

No different to having a cleaner come in really is it?

Lweji · 05/10/2018 07:47

They may be wearing body cams, but I'd worry about the keys. How secure are they? (Didn't open the link)

I guess so, but a cleaner is usually the same person each time, this could be a different bloke/ woman each time.
Also, how will they know where to put everything? does it mean they'd be going upstairs to put stuff in the bathroom?

Ah, it's a code system! Grin

Singlenotsingle · 05/10/2018 07:54

So what happens atm if you're not in? Do they just leave your box of groceries on the doorstep? Not sure that I'd be happy with that either! You just have to make damn sure you ARE in!

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 05/10/2018 07:57

No I wouldn't like that.

NameChangeCuddleBums · 05/10/2018 07:57

I think it’s great for working people and other busy people who can get their shopping sorted while doing other things. I would definitely do this if it was rolled out and I had a smart lock.

Lweji · 05/10/2018 07:57

Well, yes, you book it for when you're in. But that means work time slots are almost free and early morning and late slots are hard to get.
Companies don't want their drivers idle during the day, so this is a great solution for them.
And for customers who can get last minute deliveries more easily and probably for less.

I'd think the putting away is mainly for fridge/freezer stuff.

whatdoido33 · 05/10/2018 07:59

I wouldn't like it because I like to put things in a certain order Blush

BiscuitDrama · 05/10/2018 07:59

Yeah, single you currently book a one hour slot and stay in for it.

EvaHarknessRose · 05/10/2018 08:03

I know its not quite the same, as not your own home, but they do this at centerparcs.

I’d like to see the delivery person try to negotiate the tricky operation of opening our freezer drawer without 1) it dropping out 2) it blocking the fan behind and making a horrid noise 3) do you think they’d clean the ice out like I have to every time I open it. Yeah, we need a new freezer.

FinallyHere · 05/10/2018 08:15

Oh, i would love this service. I have been dreaming about cupboards that open from both the inside and from the back, from the outside. And have been looking for an excuse to get a smart lock.

Have not used Ocado since i heard about their appalling stance, but have been [for shame] hesitating over leaving them as they ate so convenient. This would def work better for me than Ocado. Genius.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 05/10/2018 10:09

I just asked dh and said he wouldn’t be surprised if their body can developed a “technical fault”.

Being childish I asked if this would be during the knicker snuffing antics.

His main concern would be them judging the existing contents of his fridge.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 05/10/2018 10:10

Snuffing = sniffing.

Though snuffing would also workGrin
