Carseat delivered

I've ordered a maxi cosi pebble for my baby due next month. This is how it's turned up, I've peeped through the hole and it's in no further packaging inside.

I'm worried it looks a bit bashed and may have damage you can't see, like they say when one has been in an accident.

Would you return it?

I would give them a call and complain and see if they will replace but honestly I don't think it can have been damaged enough to make it unsafe.

Brownboots · 04/10/2018 13:51

Do you reckon? I've got no idea about the force that would be required. First baby anxiety 😁

By the time you've hauled it around all sorts of place it will get a bit bashed and that will be fine. I think it's very unlikely it has been bashed in transit to the same extent it could be in a serious car accident.

I would absolutely return it. It's unacceptable condition for a parcel to arrive in, let alone one containing a car seat. Car seats should be respected, this has clearly not, it could just have had something stacked on top of it badly, but it could just as easily been dropped, or even thrown looking at the state of that box.
This is an implement designed to protect a child's life in an accident, they are supposed to be replaced if ever dropped or take a forceful impact- not just if it's been involved in an accident.

Thanks babycatcher. I think delivery driver made the hole to make it easier to carry 🙄🙄 very disappointing.

I agree with babycatcher411!

I had thought it would at least come in a maxi-cosi box inside the brown box but there's been a few posts over the years on here and other sites all saying the same thing, maxi cosi seat turned up in a plain box with no other packaging, from Mothercare, John Lewis, you name it!

I doubt they’ll do anything, this is the way they arrive into shops as well. Not additional packaging- just a plastic bag and a box

alltalknobaby · 04/10/2018 15:35

I'd return. Unacceptable.

Brownboots · 04/10/2018 15:35

Thanks @nameless i guess you're right, even if box had been pristine there's literally no way I would know if it had been knocked about before. There's no visible damage on the seat itself.

I won't disagree, you have no way of knowing what has happened before hand with any car seat, but with an undamaged box it would be fair to assume it had been handled well, with a well damaged box, how can you possibly know. It could be absolutely fine, equally it could look absolutely fine and have a hairline crack somewhere that you do not see or know about which would very much compromise it's integrity in an accident.

Baby's are too precious to take a risk, where a risk is not necessary.
